Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Ag Andras! I'm CordeliaNaismith (talk), another Wikipedian. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Thanks for your note!
[edit]Thanks for your note, I enjoyed hearing from you! I am a computer science student in the US, and joined Wikipedia pretty recently--so far I have mostly been editing human-rights related articles. But, I think that I may perhaps start editing science-related articles relevant to some of my classes, when the new semester begins. I don't know too much about opera, but I do enjoy listening to it. And I think that it's great that you are improving Wikipedia's coverage of opera-related topics. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them if I can. Best wishes, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 04:06, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Jean Lafitte
[edit]Hi Ag Andras, I moved your question to Karanacs' talk page, because he reverted the edit on Jean Lafitte and left an edit summary about the note being a forgery. Hopefully he will be able to answer the question. Best wishes, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 02:34, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, Ag Andras. The Jean Lafitte article partially addresses this, but it isn't clear. The claims that Lafitte was Jewish come from a journal purported to be his. Most historians now believe the journal is a forgery. Please see Ramsay, Jack C. (1996), Jean Laffite: Prince of Pirates, Eakin Press, ISBN 9781571680297 (p 150) and Nickell, Joe (2005), Detecting Forgery: Forensic Investigation of Documents, University Press of Kentucky, ISBN 9780813191256 (p 73).
