8X300[edit]

Thank you for creating an excellent 8X300 article. It gives good insight into the exotic design of this processor. I wanted to run some changes by you before I attempt them as to not create editing conflicts.

1. Signetics documentation for 8X300 and 8X305 number the registers in octal. I feel like these devices should be described in the terms their maker came up with. In other words, they should be appear in Wikipedia the same as in the manufacturer's literature. I propose conforming the register numbers to the documentation.

2. Signetics literature does not document the registers above R17 (octal) as virtual registers. They are conceptualized as IO designations (bank, rotate, and merge). The 8X305 programming guide makes this especially clear with its "register assignments" table. I propose to explain it in a way similar to the manual.

3. What about the 8X305? Is it significant enough for its own article? Or should it be combined into the 8X300 article? I think a new 8X305 article should be created based on your 8X300 article. There is a specific way to give credit to the original article under "history."

References[edit]

SMS300 needs refs. perhaps you have information to create an article for their creator, Scientific Micro Systems, which i just created as a redirect. I am trying to include all possible articles in the San Francisco Bay Area Task Force.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:06, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I know nothing about this company other than that it was declared bankrupt in 1989. Perhaps someone else can help out here.
