Herman Melville and Billy Budd

Any interest in doing a GA-assessment for the article for Herman Melville currently listed for GAN? If you could do this then I could offer to do a general review of Billy Budd if that helps. Let me know what you think. CodexJustin (talk) 16:05, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

There are doubts about the accuracy of identifying the actors on the photo, because the actors had understudies. Can you confirm if all or some of the actors were identified in the source book?--Yellow Horror (talk) 11:31, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Yes those were the names identified in the source. ~ Alcmaeonid (talk) 14:36, 16 May 2020 (UTC) Alcmaeonid (talk) 14:36, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

  • It still seems to me that at least one actress was identified incorrectly. Look at this image, it is clearly from the same series of photographs as the photo you took from the book. The actress is signed as В. А. Петрова (Petrova Vera Antonovna), and not Lilina.--Yellow Horror (talk) 20:29, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Now you’re getting into original research which is not your job. Our task as editors is to let the professional sources speak. If you feel they are in error, write the publisher/author and raise your concern. Or find another, hopefully better source. ~ Alcmaeonid (talk) 01:43, 20 May 2020 (UTC) ~ Alcmaeonid (talk) 01:43, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

RM discussion

There's an RM at Talk:Duane Johnson which concerns an edit you made in 2015 if you'd like to chime in. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 17:13, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Non-english source

I would like to clarify why that on Mao Anying, you removed the non english source that disputed his death. However, I can't see why, since it's not a BLP and the article itself uses a number of chinese sources and this is no different than others that talk about his life. I can translate the article if necessary. Gorden 2211 (talk) 08:26, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

I removed it because it is contentious, the subject currently under a politicized campaign of whitewashing rehabilitation by the PRC. Other editors must be able to verify the source and without English that is difficult. Please supply an English source. Alcmaeonid (talk) 05:04, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
