Hi, I just wanted to call to everyone's attention an error in the biography section of Alexander Wendt, someone of whom I am a big fan. Famously, Wendt is a listener of Carly Rae Jepsen; however, the biography section claims that he is a fan of the musical genre "metal," which he does not listen to. Likely, the source of this confusion is that Wendt is a fan of the substance metal. When I tried to fix this error, I was silenced by the higher-ups at Wikipedia. I am simply concerned about the libel risk of reporting that Alexander Wendt is a listener of the musical genre of metal when, in fact, he is not.

Request reason:

Hi, the edits I made to Alexander Wendt's page were based on personal communications, which I was unsure how to cite. The edits were accurate, and I have no intention of vandalism. AlexanderWendtFanboy (talk) 02:50, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I am unblocking you on the condition that you have agreed to- avoiding the Wendt article. I would urge you to be more collaborative in the future. 331dot (talk) 21:34, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot cite personal communications; Wikipedia is only interested in what publicly available independent reliable sources state about article subjects. Drmies I'm wondering what the reason for an indef block is, though. 331dot (talk) 07:34, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • 331dot, I saw this, their first edit, as a continuation of a series of BS edits made to the Wendt article. I don't believe that Jepsen/personal communication story for a moment. Or that "Wendt is a fan of the substance metal", though I'll admit that the claim that they were "silenced by the higher-ups at Wikipedia", a typical VOA claim, first caught my attention, as well as the ridiculous claim that libel might be relevant here. If you'd like to unblock, be my guest--but I think this editor should steer clear of that article, because I have no faith. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:36, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • AlexanderWendtFanboy, what do you want to edit about if unblocked? I agree that it would be a good idea for you to stay away from the article about Wendt. 331dot (talk) 18:06, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My main area of interest is constructivist thinkers. However, I'm happy to avoid the Wendt article in the future.
