I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.
Additional tips
[edit]Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
- If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Hi there, I notice there's been some wrangling about the copyright status of this image. Currently there's no source listed for the image and no evidence of permission to release the image under GFDL. I was about to tag the image with no-source, which could have led to it being deleted, until I noticed the author had already been notified and so checked the history. You need to make sure there's a clear statement that the image is free to use otherwise it may be deleted. If you've got any questions about it feel free to contact me on my talk page. --Daduzi talk 06:15, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's been over a week now so I'm going to go ahead and tag the image as no source within the next 24 hours unless you can either fix the image or give me some kind of explanation as to why you think it's GFDL. --Daduzi talk 23:47, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- OK, the image now has a source but I'm still not clear why you think you're entitled to release it as GFDL. Did you take the picture? Or do you have the permission of the person who did take it to release it under GFDL? If you do have permission you need to show some kind of proof on the image page. Sorry to be a pain, but as things stand this image doesn't meet the requirements of the Wikipedia image use policy. --Daduzi talk 10:42, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
[edit]Dear Anskas,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that that you have too few edits in the main article namespace. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. —Xyrael / 07:49, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Anonymous comment?
[edit]How do you know so much about UCS? 172.207.53.208 19:29, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, please post comments for me on my talk page (here), instead of on my user page. I have moved this comment.
- In answer to your question, I actually attend UCS. --anskas 22:36, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Reasonable?
[edit]I'm becoming somewhat concerned by your repeated recourse to asking me to be reasonable with no apparent justification for doing so. I'd appreciate a justification as it might appear that you are preparing the dialoge space for calling in support using these statements as justification for the suggestion that I may not be. I have listened to your arguments for the use of inaccurate terminology, and do not agree with your conclusions. I don't see anything unreasonable about that disagreement and would value an indicator as to where you feel I haven't been.ALR 14:32, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- With reference to the JTAC article, I see no advantage in explicitly stating that 'MI5' is 'erroneous'. This is clearly a topic for the Security Service page, and making judgements on a different page is irresponsible. Your implication that anyone who uses the common term is widely misguided comes off as extremely patronising, and is not appropriate for an encyclopedic entry. Wikipedia is about being accessible, and it is not for you to decide what words people should use. I have tried to compromise with you, using the official title with the common term in brackets. I would appreciate a similar courtesy. --anskas 14:44, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- My point was not a discussion of the appropriatenesss or otherwise of inaccurate terminology, but your justification for repeatedly suggesting that I'm being unreasonable. I reiterate my request for you to be specific about the suggestion.ALR 14:49, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Image Linking
[edit]- Re
- User:superbfc and User talk:Superbfc
No, I've tried it, but I don't think you can link via images - Superbfc 16:41, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

- Hi Anskas - I just found a way of linking images: use the Template:Click - {{click}} - e.g.:
- {{Click|image=WPLUL logo.PNG|link=Wikipedia:WikiProject Underground|width=60px|height=50px}}
- Pixel heights/widths are optional. Use of {{Click}} is not advised because of Accessibility infringements.

Category:Projects by type
[edit]Thank you for your contribution to the Megaproject article in the past. This is now linked from Category:Projects by type. However, there is currently a Call for Deletion for this category. If you would like to contribute to the discussion, you would be very welcome. In particular, if you would like to save this category, please add a Keep entry with your "signature" using "~~~~". Please do this soon if possible since the discussion period is very short. Thank you for your interest if you can contribute. Regards, Jonathan Bowen 01:05, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
