Armeniapedia

[edit]

No problem on the screenshot, Narek. I will mention Armeniapedia is not quite free content since I require consent to use content elsewhere. I can't say I remember the last time I said no to using my content, but still, I like to know who wants it and for what and how much stuff they require. --RaffiKojian 03:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

No problem at all. These things happen (well they happen to me often enough anyway). All the best, Angus McLellan (Talk) 01:04, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for deleting all my articles recently :D not being sarcastic. Nareklm 02:40, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's this about? —Wknight94 (talk) 02:43, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
. Wknight94 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Lessing Lake" (WP:CSD#R1 ---- content was: '#REDIRECT Lake Kari' (and the only contributor was 'Nareklm')) 02:22, ...,(and the only contributor was '[[Special:Contributions/Nareklm|Nareklm]) 22:26, 18 November 2006 Wknight94 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Russians in Armenia" ..., you diddnt delete those if not Never mind. Nareklm 02:52, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I did delete those. Just wondering why you're thanking me for deleting your stuff. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:55, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much it was copyright since i dont know to many of the rules but now i do :) plus you should delete this to lol Shushi Massacre
LOL, fair enough. Glad you could come over from the Dark Side of copyvios!  :) I've deleted that article. But please do feel free to add properly sourced material - in your own words - and as much as you can. Welcome to your Wiki-rebirth!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 03:06, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good!

[edit]

I like your rewrite and stubs. Keep it up! Just so you can prepare, the next thing you may run into - esp. with articles like Shushi Massacre - is people complaining about a neutral point of view. Any article involving Turkish-Armenian tension is bound to become a target for differing points of view - and possibly edit wars and worse. It's part of the territory with subjects like that. There's not a lot you can do. Just try to cite as many sources as you can and make sure they don't all appear to be biased in either direction. Good luck!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 04:50, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Funny - we were writing to each other at the same time. Including a quote or two is usually fine. Just don't go overboard or you'll get a {{quotefarm}} tag on your article. For edit counts, you can go here - but don't get editcountitis!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 05:01, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re

[edit]

No, that image cannot be used at all from what I can see. You gave it a wrong license. It even has a watermark! --Eupator 16:52, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you need to add the link, but even so, you have no permission to use it. The image will most likely be deleted.--Eupator 17:26, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting

[edit]

Hey how do i revert articles?

I noticed alot of vandalism in the recent changes area im trying my hardest to mark the articles that are nonsense to be deleted but for the regular articles how do i revert? Nareklm 22:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at WP:REVERT. Basically, you bring up the history of the article (using the history tab), you click on the version you want to roll back to, then you hit "Save page". It's the same as manually removing all of the vandalism but you're assured of getting the exact version that you clicked on. Just make sure you don't revert any good changes while you do it. —Wknight94 (talk) 23:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mammoth book of Chess

[edit]

Hi there; you seem to be having a little difficulty finding a {{speedy}} template for this article, for which, of course, deletion is clearly in order. You will find a complete list of these templates at WP:SPEEDY. Happy wikying.--Anthony.bradbury 00:20, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Geo-stubs

[edit]

Hi - any reason why you added geo-stub templates to a couple of articles that already had subtypes of geo-stub added? I've just removed your additions from Jamalpur, Bangladesh and Ibo District, Hyogo, which were already marked with Bangladesh-geo-stub and Hyogo-geo-stub respectively... Grutness...wha? 00:24, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

S'alright. Good to see someone who appears to be a very keen and active Wikipedian anyway. :) Grutness...wha? 00:32, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol

[edit]

Glad to see another editor on new pages patrol! Please be sure to leave a warning on the talk page of any editor who vandalizes an article, such as the changes you just reverted on the Flintridge Preparatory School article. This editor has created two articles tagged db-bio and vandalized the article about a school---and he only just got started! We need to make sure we warn him properly, in the hopes that he might knock it off. Thanks. ---Charles 02:08, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look through WP:VANDAL for all of the warnings that are usually given to vandals. CAT:UW has others as well. When you see one has gotten a final warning (usually {{test4}}) and then vandalized again, you get to add xyr to WP:AIV. If you think it's bad now, wait until a school day when all the little kiddies sit in front of a computer during study hall and do all sorts of stupid things. Be sure to remember to use subst when you add the "test" templates or someone will remind you!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 02:21, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Go get 'em! There is also a helpful IRC channel which you can find out about at Category:Vandalism Control Network members. I haven't looked around that category much but I've used the IRC channel and reverted quite a few bits of vandalism. Another route you might want to take - and I do this from time to time - is to watch the Recent Changes screen, set it to show the last 500, and look from the bottom of that screen up. You'd be surprised how many small pieces of vandalism get by the front line of vandal catchers (not to knock them in any way at all! There's just too much to catch). Those are the ones that, if you don't catch them there, they'll fall off the recent changes list and could sit in the system for quite a while. Next thing you know, it's another John Seigenthaler Sr. Wikipedia biography controversy. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:35, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Nareklm, thanks for your hard work. Just a suggestion, it's always good to assume good faith with users. I noticed you gave Skyler9 a {{test4}} warning, but there are two problems with this. The first is that he wasn't given any previous warnings, and second is that you automatically jupmped to the conclusion that he was a vandal. In this case perhaps, it might be better to give him a {{vanity}} template, or perhaps {{test}} (rather than the higher warning templates).

Another thing - always remember to substitute warning templates (i.e. instead of {{test}}, give {{subst:test}}). Also for {{vanity}} you can have it like this: {{subst:vanity|The TBA}}

I hope those suggestions were helpful! Cheers, Khoikhoi 02:54, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I just noticed this. In that case perhaps a {{blatantvandal}}/{{bv}} template might be good (except write it as {{subst:bv}} instead). Khoikhoi 02:58, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cat4545

[edit]

Do we seriously need articles for contestants of that reaity tv show? If it was for something like Survivor, and that person has made other television appearances, that I could understand. But I don't see the notability in any of the articles that this user is creating. -WarthogDemon 03:12, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shushi

[edit]

Hey someone marked it as POV i think but i used another template i want to take sometime to revise it. Nareklm 05:31, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shushi Massacre

Thanks for re-adding it i just noticed it doesn't affect the page only the talk page i just want to revise everything so it doesn't offend anyone or that POV thingy.Nareklm 05:38, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha ha, I called that one, didn't I?! There's no way you can make an article like that and not rattle someone's feathers. That's okay, you just need to work out the dispute with the editor who added the tag (s/he should have put some explanation for the dispute on the talk page of the article). Your first Wikipedia POV dispute - congratulations!  :) As far as revising it, you may not get a lot of time. It's a wiki which means it's not customary to be able to sit on an article and work on it undisturbed. That's a reason to make pages in your user space where you can do whatever you want with them. Once you put it out in the regular article space, it's free game. You should ask the disputer to talk about the article on the article's talk page. —Wknight94 (talk) 05:41, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Armenia

[edit]

Hey Narek, you have adding the tag to articles that really should not have that tag. Emile Lahoud for example. The tag should be added to articles that are created or significantly modified by project members and that deal primarily with Armenia and Armenians. Emile Lahoud has nothign to do with Armenians other than having an Armenian mother. The tag should NOT be added to peoples articles who have some Armenian acnestry or even if they are 100% Armenians. Then there is Pita, now why on earth did you add the tag to the Pita article? I'm sure there are many other examples. Please stop.--Eupator 22:15, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The $128,000 Question article

[edit]

I apologize for the small info so far, I am in the process of typing up and collecting more info for it as we speak. FamicomJL 22:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am here to yell at you. Your tagging of this article was awful. AWFUL. You should resolve to do New Page Patrol from the bottom, to give new users time to flesh out their contribution. This was NOT nonsense, or any other CSD criterion. I hope I never see anything this bizarre out fo you in the future. - crz crztalk 22:46, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
