Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Gallia Lugdunensis. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. creffett (talk) 16:12, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. {{unblock|I thought that adding links to my pages with scholarly content could be useful for the readers. Other pages of my web site had been previously linked by other users without any problem and I thought there was any in linking the remaining ones by myself.}} This does not address the problematic username; please follow the instructions in the block notice to replace your above request with one that simultaneously requests unblock while proposing a new username. Now that you know that you linking to your own website and work will not be permitted(directly, at least), what will you edit about if unblocked? Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. 331dot (talk) 21:18, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Of course I am not paid for editing, neither I make any money from my web site. I do not know why you think I do. My pages are intended to share useful and interesting scholarly material, both original and as references to my books and other authors. I have been editing since early 2000's on linguistics, history, and engineering (I am a professional research engineer and academic) and I have done some dirty work (correcting typos or missing links to other wiki pages, etc.). Though, I admit that I do not have so much time to be a regular editor and my edits will be rare as they have been in these more than fifteen years.

Decline reason:

It does not matter whether or not your site makes money, it matters that you have a conflict of interest. See WP:COI. Yamla (talk) 12:45, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
