Article topic feedback

I really like your proposed article topic. I think it would also be interesting to explore how child labor was portrayed in the media (Newsies). Another idea to consider is youth in concrentation camps during WWII. I know a lot of research has been done on this topic, but you could explore how this affected their perspectives of youth and what it meant to be a youth while in the camps. Good luck! Proposal of Planned Research

The article I am planning to revise is the industrial revolution section that is described on the child labor Wikipedia page. With an increase of background information on how children were involved in the industrial revolution, how this lead to child labor laws, and how it affected other counties views on child labor, I should be able to make this a detailed and well versed addition to the child labor page. With links and references to multiple different Wikipedia pages, as well as many references from legitimate sources, I believe that I can properly expand the information that is already presented.

The problem with the current article is that child labor during the industrial revolution is a very small section of the Wikipedia page. Although the information presented is correct, it seems a bit vague, out of order, and could use a bit more expanding. The current section also does not emphasize or stress the importance that the industrial revolution had on passing the child labor laws that are now put into place across America. This is very important when looking at the history of child labor as there had to be a drastic change in the past system for the child labor laws to be put into place. Without that explanation, it leaves a person wondering why children were not kept working during the revolution. I believe by adding this connection, the section will be accurately well rounded.

The new content I will be adding is the effects the industrial revolution had on children working in factories, how those experiences influenced the child labor laws, and how this act influenced other countries globally in terms of how they views child labor. I believe I will add this information by copying the original piece into my sandbox, and working my new material in-between the current texts. By adding the new information, I will be able to create more of a timeline was also respecting and utilizing another writers work. With a good combination of research from my college library, and google scholar, I feel confident that I can expand my topic, and connect it to the global youth.

Feedback on sources

Congratulations on completing this assignment! I wanted to check in about how you planned to incorporate your work within the article given the "21st Century" section? There is indeed a great deal of information about the Global South in this section and throughout the article. There are statistics on Latin America in the article. I am concerned how you plan to edit and update it? This is a change from your proposal, and we haven't gotten a chance to talk about it.

If you decide that you can indeed make a notable contribution to the child labour article, then here is some feedback on your sources. I do not believe that this is the best choice for your editing work.

However, I went ahead and reviewed your sources. I was looking for 3-5 sources total, as well as the use of scholarly sources and the incorporation of global perspectives. Your sources are of good quality in this regard. You have a good start on formatting. Be sure to include doi numbers and create a reference page in your sandbox. Some of the articles lack a title in the references. I was not sure how each article fit into your proposal, as I have not seen a completed proposal on this topic.

Child labour

Hello, I appreciate the updates and improvements to the Child labour article you introduced in this edition [1] but please note that it has also broken all references at the same time. I suppose this was an unintended consequence of using the editor incorrectly — so if you now go to this section for example [2] the in-line references are no longer clickable links (e.g. "mines and domestic service industries.[37][38]"). This applies to all the references in the block you copied — I would suggest reverting the change you made originally and then trying to repeat the edits in source editing mode.
