Information icon Hello, I'm 2601:188:180:B8E0:0:0:0:4FAD. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 2601:188:180:B8E0:0:0:0:4FAD (talk) 23:03, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Aveichenbaum73. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 2601:188:180:B8E0:0:0:0:4FAD (talk) 23:05, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. 2601:188:180:B8E0:0:0:0:4FAD (talk) 23:15, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no promotion or advertisement here. The Seattle Times covered the SGN's restructuring after George Bakan's passing, and the story is in that link. Aveichenbaum73 (talk) 23:21, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. 2601:188:180:B8E0:0:0:0:4FAD (talk) 23:41, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am the current editor, but I had nothing to do with the first 47 years of the SGN's history. I took some time out of my day to update the page, but I never met George Bakan. This is my first Wikipedia edit, and I apologize for misunderstanding how to cite external sources. Aveichenbaum73 (talk) 23:52, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please review Wikipedia's paid editing disclosure policy. As you are writing about your employer, you are considered to be a paid editor by this policy's definition. It advises a visible disclosure of this relationship with the subject, preferably on your userpage (User:Aveichenbaum73) using the {{paid}} template. If you need assistance in doing this, I can provide it.
We also advise users with such conflicts of interest not to edit the article directly, but instead make edit requests on the article's talk page (in this case, Talk:Seattle Gay News). This gives other uninvolved editors to review your changes and suggest revisions. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 00:29, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying. I'm probably just going to let it be. Looks like someone fixed it up properly anyway. Aveichenbaum73 (talk) 04:41, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
