You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.

Request reason:

I understand that I have been blocked because of press kit materials, which were supposedly prepared by developers of the game, and thus don't meet the need for WP:reliable sources or WP:independent sources. I have no relation to Insane Robots or its developers. I agree to not link to press kits and/or playniac.com. -- Ax8 (talk) 17:51, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 10:40, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I understand that I have been blocked because of press kit materials, which were supposedly prepared by developers of the game, and thus don't meet the need for WP:reliable sources or WP:independent sources. My previous request was declined: "Procedural decline only". Ax8 (talk) 00:40, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Declining as stale for the most part, though you also say you have no edits you wish to make at this time. 331dot (talk) 15:36, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You have a very short editing history but the problem edit (your very first one) wasn't just using unreliable materials but adding what appears to be a direct cut and paste from a press kit. It looks as if your interest was advertising this game rather than writing and article on it. That's why your account was blocked. I note you say you won't do it again, and that it has been quite some time since the unblock, so am tempted to give an unblock a try. However, pinging @MER-C: as the blocking admin to get their views.

In the mean time: if you were unblocked, what kind of articles would you like to edit and what do you understand to be a reliable source for Wikipedia content? -- Euryalus (talk) 21:07, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That the content was not backed by reliable sources is the least of your problems here. That single edit proved that you had a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of this project, something that needs to be corrected. MER-C 11:17, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I frequently use Wikipedia as information source and for inspiration. I do not have any specific topics, but I am mostly interested in movies, games and IT.

I thought I could try to make some contribution in response, but unfortunately, my start didn't go well. User:Deepfriedokra helped me with valuable links, especially Wikipedia:Verifiability, but it was after I got banned. It would be nice if Wikipedia would automatically add information he provided for any newly registered user, as it would definitely help to reduce such cases as mine.

As for editing. I think I'll try to start from some simple edits on pages I visit, like fixing typos, markups or adding minimum information, which does not require citation or references, and does not contain any advertising content. Regarding "reliable source for Wikipedia content", there is not direct tutorial on this on Wikipedia. I think I might try to ask for help from more experienced editors, like User:Deepfriedokra, but only when I'll have something like this to publish.

Yet, I am banned indefinitely, so I have no plans no editing anything on Wikipedia right after unban. Ax8 (talk) 14:57, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock discussion

[edit]

Hate to say it, but you added promotional content in your unblock request. "All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." Press kits don't meet those requirements. I'll leave a welcome template with guidance. There is more guidance here and at User:Deepfriedokra/promo on avoiding promotional content.. You'll need to agree to not link to press kits and/or playniac.com. --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 19:30, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for welcome template. I missed the part regarding "press kits". I thought that if it is developer press kit then it is supposed to be reliable. I was working on more relevant description, how I see it, when I was blocked. I agree to not link to press kits and/or playniac.com and/or any other website. I'll read welcome template more attentively. -- Ax8 (talk) 20:11, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Press kits are prepared by the subjects, so don't meet the need for WP:reliable sources or WP:independent sources. Those are much deeper level rules that even experienced users can have problems with. --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 21:34, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I saw on Wikipedia:Independent_sources (See also) it is said that "Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources – a non-independent source is sometimes still reliable." Also on this page "press release" is defined as "Non-independent" source. Also that "press kit" page contains video with developer describing game features, which also looked like reliable source. I'm a bit confused by this information. -- Ax8 (talk) 21:47, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
