Information icon Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Night Songs (Cinderella album), have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. SolarFlashDiscussion 23:30, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I’m curious as to what the incorrect information was? I added a more specific genre to the album, and cited it with a reference from a trusted and reliable music website. BRUYLE97 (talk) 22:08, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The source you added never at any point refers to the album as "glam metal". It's not that the source fails WP:RS, it's that it never explicitly says what you're claiming it says. SolarFlashDiscussion 22:11, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My apologizes, I just believed that was clearly stated in the articles title. BRUYLE97 (talk) 22:13, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, but that is incorrect. The article's title is 50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time with no mention of glam metal. If the source does not say precisely what you are claiming it says, the material is considered unverified and can be reverted immediately. SolarFlashDiscussion 22:40, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I was under the impression that we used that term interchangeably here. Since certain pages have hair metal listed under their genre and it redirects to the glam metal page, which also has “hair metal” under “other names” BRUYLE97 (talk) 22:48, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hair metal is not a distinct musical genre. It has more to do with visual aspects than the music itself. The fact that the term redirects to glam metal means nothing. If you'd like some free advice, avoid genre-related editing entirely. Too many editors base these types of edits on their own personal opinions and they go to great lengths to get their way. Honestly, too much focus on genres is the quickest way to get yourself blocked from editing. SolarFlashDiscussion 23:15, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. Sounds like they aren’t worth editing anyways. BRUYLE97 (talk) 23:22, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
