re: edit to Benet Academy

[edit]

Helllooooo Basket!

I just reverted one of the edits that you made at this article, and wanted to explain why I did.

Per wikipedia's policies on reliable sources and verifiability, information must be referenced (and preferably cited) in the article. Moreso, wikipedia cannot self reference. Just because one article claims that a person is an alum of school "X", that does not make it so, and does not fulfill the requirements of these policies. There needs to be a neutral, outside, third party source that confirms that these people are alumni.

I did go back and check those articles, and neither had a reference supporting that they were alumni. I went ahead and restored the fact tags. If you can find a reference that supports them being alumni, please add them to the article.

I didn't want to delete without an explanation, and explain why I did what I did. Happy editing! LonelyBeacon (talk) 20:03, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My concern was that Ryan had no footnote tying him to Benet (more precisely a Benet class though that was given) despite having had a footnote request for just that since July 2008. IMO, requests for cites on (to be honest) less than cataclysmic articles should get a pass for maybe three months. IMO (and Wikipedia's) the WP:BURDEN is on the entering editor. We shouldn't have to do the work. Just letting it go by for three months is pushing their luck IMO.
I pretty much agreed with your philosophy on notables. I thought it was mine and I invented it! If I have deviated from that, my apologies! Student7 (talk) 20:06, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it is in his bio which sounds credible, so no great rush since you are working on it. No footnote in bio of course. I suppose in one of the general references. Thanks for handling this. Student7 (talk) 00:40, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Manhattan

[edit]

Apparently the citations claim manhattan is the "cultural" center of the world, not the financial center. Next time, please be careful when editing. Willydick (talk) 06:35, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, claims that Manhattan is both cultural and financial center. Additionally, the article uses even softer language, claiming that Manhattan is a center, not the center. The qualifier 'to some extent' is completely unnecessary. Basket548 (talk) 07:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haarlem

[edit]

Hello. I notice you changed Haarlem to Harlem in Manhattan. But the former leads to the town in the Netherlands, while the latter just links right back to the neighborhood. Is there something I'm missing? Station1 (talk) 21:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Station1 (talk) 22:12, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
