Bill---Thanks for your interest in Wikipedia, but your insertion of links to 14ers.com en masse is contrary to usual practice at Wikipedia. I expect that you are not clear on the guidelines regarding external links; you should read them. I have reverted some of the insertions, and would revert more, but don't have the time. I expect others will likely revert the rest. If you think that these links deserve to be on the 14ers articles, you should bring it up at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Mountains, instead of just adding them as you did, which is unfortunately a big red flag. Thanks. -- Spireguy (talk) 03:49, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Yeah, I was just trying to add helpful links so people can get to relevant, external information. Waste of time I guess. I'm guessing the people who need that info are finding it anyway, without Wikipedia. Thanks again. -Bill BillMiddlebrook (talk) 02:25, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just a bit more information - the following (from the guildelines) is what I was using as justification for adding External Links to the Colorado 14er pages. Since the external information is copyrighted and completely relevant to a Colorado 14er article...
What can normally be linked
- Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, website, or other entity should link to the subject's official site, if any. See § Official links.
- An article about a book, a musical score, or some other media should link to a site hosting a legally distributed copy of the work, so long as none of the § Restrictions on linking and § Links normally to be avoided criteria apply.
- Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject and cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks), or other reasons. The file File:Bill Middlebrook.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused personal photo. Out of scope.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
