April 2021[edit]

Hello, I'm Novem Linguae. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Arabic numerals seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:35, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Novem, Removing the main inventing party seems less than neutral to me. I think the terminology is quite inaccurate when it really is widely known as the 'Hindu-Arabic numerical system'. See terminology and etimology below: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu%E2%80%93Arabic_numeral_system

Please do note that etimology (and therefore terminology) is not a matter point of view but fact. You can call it "Indo-Arabic" or "Hindu-Arabic" as mentioned in the more thorough link for your reference here again: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HinduArabic_numeral_system#:~:text=The%20Hindu-Arabic%20or%20Indo,the%20West%20by%20Arab%20merchants.

There is a difference between the system commonly called the "Hindu–Arabic numeral system", and the numerals that this system uses, which are commonly called the "Arabic numerals". By policy Wikipedia must use names which are most commonly used in reliable sources, which apparently in this case is "Hindu–Arabic numeral system" for the system, and "Arabic numerals" for the numerals. To be allowed to edit Wikipedia you must follow Wikipedia policies. Please stop edit warring (see WP:EDITWAR), if you don't you your editorial privileges will be taken away. I agree with the edit made now as there are many reliable sources today that neutrally states 'Hindu-Arabic Numerals'. This brings the description in alignment with etimology of the term, the numerals and the system.
