Re: Heath Ledger

[edit]

Please stop changing references to Heath Ledger to "starring Oscar winning actor Heath Ledger". If it is relevant to mention Ledger's Academy Award, it would only be in an article about Dark Knight, for which he won the award. Otherwise, it simply sounds promotional, which is not in keeping with Wikipedia's policy of neutrality. We aren't a publicity machine. Thank you. Referencing and editing

[edit]

When you are making additions to articles which involve giving statistics, such as this one to Ned Kelly adding information from Rotten Tomatoes, or quotes from anyone including critics, such as this one to 10 Things I Hate About You, it is absolutely imperative that you also add source referencing for where you obtained such information. Please read WP:RS regarding reliable sourcing and WP:CITE to learn how to add and format references. Editing isn't just about adding content, it is also about adding support for what you are claiming when you edit. Also note that it is inappropriate to place content in front of existing sources such as you did here and here. Doing that implies that what you are adding is contained in the reference, which would not be true at all for a statement about mixed reviews placed in front of a cite from Box Office Mojo. Repeatedly wikilinking articles, such as Heath Ledger in the Ned Kelly article, is not accepted practice and is covered under WP:OVERLINKING. Please take a moment to read the links in the welcome message above. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 05:10, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
