I noticed your new article, and wanted to mention why I'll be adding the {{prod}} tag to the article. As noted in the message it will produce, you can dispute the nomination by improving the article. But that's the concern.

Please refer to WP:BIO. There are rules (guidelines?) about who is notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia. I don't necessarily agree with the current state of affairs. (one inning in one baseball game is enough for sports 'notability', but a mere multi-decade teaching professorship is not (cough))

But the problem is that the article, as is, looks like it will be easily nominated by someone for WP:AFD and very probably deleted as "non-notable" (that is, not notable 'enough').

I do think there's material here that could go into an article on TechTV (if there is one). (disclaimer: I'm just another user, been around longer) Shenme 17:59, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Talk:Bob Hirschfeld. I left a comment saying I'd removed the prod tag, but then someone else also left a comment about WP:BIO. I'm still learning, so I won't be any help ... sorry. Shenme 02:48, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Umm, I guess I would like to say that there has been rather extraordinary abuse of/on Wikipedia, and so lots of people are really hyper-vigilant about the notability bugaboo. I mean, we get people who just got their Ph.D. and want a page on WP, declaring "I made discoveries in the labs, major discoveries I say! Did I mention I got a Ph.D.? (and need a job?)"  :( Hope the bad mood doesn't catch you. Shenme 02:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the article you made about yourself to your user page. Friday (talk) 21:13, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't understand... If my name is listed on the TechLive page, why not link to an article describing me? I haven't seen any discussion except the paragraphs above, and most of them seem sympathetic. Once again, here is my justification for being "notable" and "verifiable" -- just Google "hirschfeld" and "techtv" and you'll see lots of references that are very relevant to my work on TechLive. Thanks. Bobhirschfeld 23:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you feel that you satisfy that, please read WP:BIO, WP:V, WP:RS, WP:CITE. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 19:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
