Adoption

Hi, could you please adopt me? I want to take my Wiki skills to the next level. Serenesage (talk) 09:27, 14 June 2018 (UTC) Serenesage (talk)

Hey there, Serenesage, first word of advice, make sure you add new talk page sections at the bottom of the page, and make sure to give your section a title. I went ahead and did both of these for you :). Second, I'd be more than happy to help. What questions do you have so far? (Also good job on signing your post, even a lot of guys who have been around for a while struggle with that). bojo | talk 13:39, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Pending changes

Please be careful when accepting pending changes. The revision you accepted on 2018 FIFA World Cup seeding on 17 June was incorrect; the table the IP claimed they "fixed" is supposed to show draw order, not seeding order. See edit history. 2601:589:8000:2ED0:8409:7077:84CA:9B1 (talk) 14:56, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

My apologies, thanks for catching that. I'll definitely be more thorough with my reviews of that page. It seems to be under constant attacks like the one I mistakenly accepted. Thanks for the feedback! bojo | talk 14:59, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

Sensorpro

Please revert the entry. It's a well known Survey software company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mskellig (talkcontribs) 09:21, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

@Mskellig:, hey there. I reverted your edit for two reasons. First, because it has not been demonstrated to be a notable company (that's not to say it necessarily isn't but you or others have not show it, see WP:NCORP for more info on that ). And second because your only other edit has been inappropriately adding a link to this same company's website to the external links section of an article, which suggests to me you may have some sort of connection to this company. While this isn't against, policy, you do have to disclose this potential conflict of interest (see WP:COI for more info), and if you are being paid by this company, you must disclose that as well (see WP:PAID). I hope this all makes sense to you. If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them. (Also, please remember to sign your posts on talk pages. Makes them a lot cleaner and more coherent.) Thanks and happy editing! bojo | talk 13:16, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

Mehdi or Medhi Benatia !

Hi Bojo,

Thanks for your message. I don't have a reference for the edition I made to his page, but as my name is the same (Mehdi), and the origin of that in Arabic is مهدی it make sense to translate it as it is pronounced in Arabic:

م for M,

E as a vowel (which is originally A in Arabic),

ه for H,

د for D,

and

ی for i

Writing Medhi is misplacing the original order in Arabic.

Hope that is clear.

Thanks,

Mehdi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.244.107 (talk) 07:38, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

I appreciate your feedback on this topic, however every reference that I check from that page spells his name is "Medhi". This is certainly not something that is in my usual scope of knowledge (I struggle with my native english, much less something unique like arabic), however every source I can find about this specific person spell his name "Medhi". If you can find a reliable source that shows otherwise (though given the abundance of sources saying it is Medhi, I'd be more inclined to think it a typo), I would suggest taking it to the article talk page, and see what the people there have to say. Hopefully this can clear a little bit up for you. Thanks and happy editing! bojo | talk 13:21, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Mehdi or Medhi !

Hi Bojo,

Here are the links may help to clarify it better.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehdi

and

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medhi

As you can see, there is only 2 people with your spelling in Wikipedia (Medhi Benatia, and Medhi Bouzzine).

The original "Medhi" is an Indian name / place. You'll find a lot of "dh" in Indian names (Sandhu, Sandha, ...).

I don't insist to change his name, but want to let you know that people make lots of mistakes when writing non-English/Latin names in English....

.... And abundance of a mistake, doesn't change it to accurate !

Good luck — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.244.107 (talk) 02:38, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Hey there. Again, I see where you are coming from, and I'm very familiar with the concept of Argumentum ad populum, however I don't think that applies here. Like I've said, even clubs that have signed him have listed his name as such, so this is how he spells his name. Hopefully you understand. Thanks and happy editing! bojo | talk 17:19, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
