request courtesy vanishing -- for urgent privacy/safety reasons -- please change my this account name to LJMStateofMind or something else non-identifying so that I cannot be traced or doxxed or otherwise harrassed -- it is fine to leave me blocked after changing the name -- I just implore you to help safeguard my privacy and safety :( BradFalconer (talk) 07:58, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

You are not eligible for WP:VANISH and even if you were, I'm not convinced you plan to permanently leave Wikipedia, given your sockpuppetry. Yamla (talk) 10:07, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am requesting renaming for safety and privacy reasons. Please see comments elsewhere on this page. I am sorry for handling this situation badly. I use Wikipedia all the time and respect the platform greatly. I handled this situation poorly. This organization has been credibly reported as a dangerous cult. It has done great damage to people I care about. I tried to add a New Yorker article and other sources to make the page more informative, but other editor would not let me add anything. I became frustrated and handled it poorly. I apologize for my bad conduct; I accept a permanent block; and I will not create any more sock puppet accounts. I merely beg you to conceal my identity for safety and privacy reasons. Please? To clarify further, my issue was NOT with Wikipedia. Rather, I was specifically upset with the Siddha Yoga organization, affiliates of which keep the Siddha wiki pages meticulously scrubbed of all the credible maintstream reporting on their history as a dangerous and violent cult, in favor of maintaining the pages as an idealizing mirror of the organization's own propaganda via their web site. It is precisely because I value Wikipedia so much as a source of truth and balanced information that I object to the sanitized, misleading, idealistic, hagiographic nature of the Siddha pages including Gurumayi. If you review my edits you'll see that I began in good faith and made a regrettable lapse into clownish behavior once it became clear that no good faith changes would be allowed or allowed to remain for long on those pages. :( Finally, I understand that you want to punish me for breaking the rules -- which I accept -- can't you just leave me banned instead of forcing me to keep a user name that I did not realize could subject me to doxxing and other harassment? Blocks are not a punishment, but a means to prevent disruption to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is also not a source of truth, but of things that can be verified. As noted, you are not eligible to be vanished. If your personal safety is under threat, please contact your local authorities. If there are reasons to vanish this account irrespective of the policy, you probably will need to contact the Arbitration Committee via email. 331dot (talk) 14:24, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me. I give you my word I will not disrupt Wikipedia any further. My safety and privacy are under threat by the revelation of my name. This was a one-time incident, not a longstanding pattern of behavior; I was in the dark about Wiki policies, and I have learned my lesson. I did speak to the local authorities, and they said that they cannot help me until I have been actively harassed or threatened, but they urged me to make my case to you anew given the potential risk to my safety. I have written the arbitration committee as well. I implore you to help me in the name of safety and privacy. BradFalconer (talk) 18:10, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you have contacted ArbCom, the next step is up to them now. 331dot (talk) 13:07, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Thanks for replying. I doubt the arbitrators will see it any differently, but here’s hoping. Regardless, I made a mistake here that I very much intend not to repeat.

I do feel ashamed of my behavior. I was having a mental health episode. I say that as an explanation, not an excuse. I regret both doing harm to myself and to Wikipedia. All I can do now is my best to get back on track with what actually works in my attempts to recover from the events that sensitized me to the content I edited.

I wish very ardently that I could turn back time to before I made any edits, but I understand that isn’t how it works.

I sincerely apologize to all impacted.
