Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Brankin11, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Interactive Brokers, seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Widefox; talk 09:08, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you added all these awards sections with stockbrokers.com? Do you have any connection (see WP:COI) with either the subjects or the website/orgs added? Widefox; talk 09:10, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Lemongirl942. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to SogoTrade have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Please stop adding links to "stockbrokers.com". Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:09, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Firstrade Securities. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. COI with stockbrokers.com

[edit]

Hi! Please let us know if you are related to Stockbrokers.com (employee, employer,pr agent etc). I see that you have been adding links to stockbrokers.com in multiple articles, particularly in references. Please note that this is considered WP:REFSPAM. If you want to add details about industry awards, please use secondary sources. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:21, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Widefox I just saw your comment above. Glad, I'm not the only one who sees this. This account is most definitely an SPA trying to promote stockbrokers.com. And this has been going on for years. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:38, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lemongirl942, yes it's a blatant one. The edit pattern is unusual - crucially they do some work editing, then do no work edits for months/a year or so. Rinse and repeat. That may mean they won't even see messages until the next time they are working editing. Want to get stockbrokers.com blacklisted? I've asked this account blocked 1. WP:AIV promo only (potentially/allegedly 2. WP:TOU vio) 3. long-term abuse. Widefox; talk 07:51, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Widefox Thank you for reporting at AIV. This account is clearly an SPA for spamming. I don't mind blacklisting stockbrokers.com as it is evidently being used only for spamming. I'm not very familiar with spam reporting though. If you report it, I will support. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:59, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(offtopic - I'm just trying to finish a couple of dabs and then logout due to realworld, so go for it!). Widefox; talk 08:01, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Alright! I'll try reporting in a while. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 08:03, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Lemongirl942 AIV correctly won't block as it's stale (this accounts intermittent editing slipping through the cracks here). Listed at WP:COIN as the least drama board option, but with a intermittant-dormant account it will be in a slow-lane of COIN (an already slow road), that'll need pushing again later. Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. Widefox; talk 18:35, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Long-term / spam only account

[edit]

Considering there's no dialog, and this is a promo / spam only account, the next time promo or spamming will result in the account being blocked. Long term abuse like this may have fallen between the cracks here, and these messages have now backed up... Stop icon This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  MER-C 03:14, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
