You changed the names of of titles to names they do not have.-- Toddy1 (talk) 06:42, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please read WP:COMMONNAME. You will then understand why Wikipedia uses the commonly used English-language names for places such as Allahabad.-- Toddy1 (talk) 06:42, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think you are mistaken to have reverted my change of Allahabad to Prayagraj. It is the official name passed into law in 2019 and you seem to think this fits into wiki.common names policy which it does not. It is not a confusion for us in India, maybe where you live it is. Bullishkid (talk) 06:55, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There was a discussion at Talk:Allahabad about the common name for the city in August 2020.
Your edits also changed the titles of sources to say Prayagraj when the titles really say Allahabad, and you changed quotations to say Prayagraj when the sources quoted said Allahabad.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:15, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If the titles of sources were changed by mistake, you can remove those edits. But the changes in the texts you should leave on. I will take a look at the earlier discussion in August 2020 , I do not know who the people are who share these opinions but if they are Indians that should have more value than the western eye. The change to the name Prayagraj is official and by law. So that name should be used to reference the place. Let me know if you want me to resubmit the full edit or if you will keep the old edit I sent minus an source reference errors . I was conscious trying to avoid those but maybe one or two mistakes happened in the whole of the 56 places where the city was quoted wrongly as Allahabad .
