Welcome
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Please be aware that accounts less than 30 days old, and those with fewer than 500 edits are not allowed to make edits relating to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. All your edits to date are related to the conflict, so you will have to do some editing elsewhere for some time. Cheers, Number 57 14:19, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. Most of my activity is in the Hebrew Wikipedia, where I'm interested in more subjects. However, when I added this information in Hebrew, I checked the English Wikipedia and noticed that it was missing. I know that I am new, and that English Wikipedia is not as main to me as the Hebrew site, but it does not mean I have nothing to contribute. I hope it is OK that when I contribute a source to the Hebrew site, I can contribute it to the English site as well. Best regards, Bustan1498 (talk) 14:30, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- BTW I hope someone will restore my edits after checking the facts. Right now I have Khalidi's book next to me which I quotated from (I also added the page so one can check it easily if he/she has the book). Bustan1498 (talk) 14:39, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- User:Number 57 Another question: Is there any way I can offer edits like the last two? As I said before, I am mostly in the Hebrew Wikipedia, so having 500 edits in English is not reasonable for me, however I think I can contibute also to English Wikipedia when I make such contributions in Hebrew. Thanks, Bustan1498 (talk) 14:48, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- You can post on the article talk pages and request someone to check and add it using {{Edit extended-protected}} (when you do that, it's probably worth noting that even if the page isn't protected, you aren't allowed to edit it because of the WP:ARBPIA4 restrictions). Please add the page number to the request though – another one of the reasons I removed your edits was that there was no page number (so it wasn't verifiable). Cheers, Number 57 14:56, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't know why this page no. didn't appear, but I will make sure it will be noted. I don't quite sure I fully understand your response - what do you mean by "worth nothing"? Thanks again, Bustan1498 (talk) 15:03, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, that was a typo. Should have said "worth noting". Number 57 15:04, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ah no problem. I added a request here in Aminadav talk page. Is it OK? Bustan1498 (talk) 15:13, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- You forgot to add the template at the top, and I think you need to be more specific, stating exactly where to introduce the text – probably best to write out the existing paragraph with the text you wish to add (the template says
"Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".
). Number 57 15:17, 17 May 2020 (UTC)- I don't understand how to use it. Do you have an example of use of this template? I think it will help me a lot. Thanks! Bustan1498 (talk) 15:20, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

- I don't find it here: {{Edit extended-protected}}. :( Bustan1498 (talk) 15:24, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- You've used it correctly at the Aminadav page. 15:44, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Great, thanks a lot for your help! Bustan1498 (talk) 15:45, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Also, don't forget to mention WP:ARBPIA4 edit restrictions – some people have responded and incorrectly told you you can edit the article. Cheers, Number 57 16:59, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reminder. Best regards, Bustan1498 (talk) 17:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Bustan1498! I didn't think {{Edit extended-protected}} was appropriate for your requests, since the articles weren't protected. With help from Number 57, I eventually changed them to {{help me}}. Diannaa kindly made the edits you suggested. Thanks for your suggestions! GoingBatty (talk) 21:35, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi GoingBatty and thank you, Number 57 and Diannaa (and anyone else releveant) for your help! That means that now, I can directly add to an article in this topic with a quote from a source (like Khalidi's book), or maybe should I ask for it in the article's talk page with {{help me}} instead of {{Edit extended-protected}}? Bustan1498 (talk) 21:45, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you'll still have to use the talk page until you get to 30 days/500 edits. However, if you ping Huldra, she has the book and will be able to confirm your additions. Cheers, Number 57 21:47, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- OK, so I'll wait until 30 days pass, and in the meantime will ping Huldra if needed (thanks for your help!). Bustan1498 (talk) 21:50, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Bustan1498, and welcome to Wikipedia. As Number 57 said; I have the Khalidi book and can check the page-numbers and add to the articles. I thought I had added all the present places from the Khalidi-book, but I obviously have missed some. I am very grateful to you for making us aware of what is missing!
- As Number 57 has said: the 30 days/500 edits is quite strict. But yeah; if you ping me at any article talk-page (or note it at my talk-page), I will look into it, Huldra (talk) 21:55, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

- Hi Huldra and thank you so much! I have just pingged you in two locations. Bustan1498 (talk) 21:59, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty and Number 57: Sorry to jump in on this discussion on this page (and apologies to Bustan1498 for what's now bordering on a policy discussion going on on their talk page!), but I'm not sure {{help me}} is appropriate - I think {{Edit extended-protected}} is a much better template for this scenario. These requests should not be in the helper backlog, because they're not help requests - they're edit requests - and that's a fundamentally different thing. What's more, while the pages may not be technically protected with the MediaWiki features, they are in effect protected by the Arbcom ruling. Until there's a separate template for Arbcom enforced "protection" edit requests, I'd like to move that all the help me requests are changed back to Edit extended-protected, just to make sure they're in the right queue. Thanks!
[edit]Thank you so much for the useful edit-suggestions you have made! I have added some.
Unfortunately, I will be very busy in RL for the next two weeks, so I probably will not have time to add more until then (I really shouldn't be here at all, at the moment!).
But don't worry: in two weeks I will fully be back, Huldra (talk) 22:17, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi User:Huldra, no problem! I wish you good luck. :)
- I think I'm going to make a list of all my suggestions here, after this message, so when you return you could easily find all my suggestions (nevertheless I'll tag you in the relevant talk pages).
- Thanks again for your kind help!Bustan1498 (talk) 05:52, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
