Weighted Scores Bechdel Cast

[edit]

You made an error removing the weighted scores on the Bechdel Cast page when there are only two scores---the two hosts. See footnote 5. The purpose of weighting when there are only two scores is to provide a way to compare the scores of every movie that's been reviewed. If for instance a movie gets two 5s from the two hosts and winds up with a score of 10 then that movie will appear to have received the same score as a movie that got two 3.5s and a 3 when there are three scores. It creates a false equivalence between those two movies. The movie that scored 10 with only two scores has clearly been rated higher than the movie that got three scores in the 3s. Just as movies that have two guests have an artificially high rating that requires weighting so do movies with no guest have an artificially low rating that requires weighting as well. When you have time if you could change them back that would be helpful. Thank you. Martallic (talk) 23:51, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Martallic, full disclose, since I took over this was not something I had maintained; and initially I could not make heads or tails of the scores. Thanks for your message. It has been remedied. Ccamacho1989 (talk) 01:14, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! It's probably something that's nearly impossible to notice for someone jumping in. Unless you briefed yourself on the footnotes and who would do that, not me. And thank you for maintaining it. I do think it's a nice resource for people interested in the intersection of gender representation and film. Martallic (talk) 01:37, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
