A tag has been placed on Christopher Cavania Sanders requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Marsa Lahminal (talk) 13:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator, I think his status as RA is quite sufficient to prevent speedy deletion, and probably sufficient to justify the article altogether. But the present article is unsuitable . WP is not a place for personal memorials. The article must be written giving the information appropriate for the readers of a general encyclopedia, not a containing all the information the family may wish to preserve. It is not his family life that is important here, but his professional career. What counts for notability in an artist is the work--the awards he has won, the major exhibitions devoted to his work, the museums that hold it. This is what must be emphasized, and it must all be supported by 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases). I removed some of the details of his early life, but there's more that needs cutting. and the reviews that undoubtedly have been published of his wok is what needs adding. Try a library if you need help in finding them, but you are likely to have a scrapbook--most artists keep their reviews. DGG (talk) 17:03, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Christopher Cavania Sanders

[edit]

I have nominated Christopher Cavania Sanders, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christopher Cavania Sanders. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
