Hi. When you recently edited Harry March, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lounge lizard (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

List of accidents and incidents involving commercial aircraft

Did you read this[1] before doing the edits you just recently completed? Because many of the edits you just did do not meet the entry style for this article.- William 13:17, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Those guidelines are so out of date they haven't even been updated to take account of the deprecation of date linking from several years ago. Essentially this article is a chronological index into the specific WP articles about each incident, so what is the point of the convoluted double linking of the form [[Airline]], '''[[Airline & flight number|Flight number]]'''? Anyone who wants more information about a specific incident can click on the main link and get it all there. The vast majority of the links here are superfluous and never likely to be used and just clutter up the article, which really ought to be much more like a disambiguation page - one link per line, with a brief description to allow the reader to decide whether to click the link for more detail. I transferred your reply to here so the entire thread can be together. Most editors prefer any replies to be on the same page as where the discussion begins.
As to the guidelines being out of date, I think some are and some aren't. A crash entry, if I were setting policy might go like this(with links)-
Jan 23- John Smith Airlines Flight 123 crashes short of the runway in Sacramento, California due to a microburst. 103 of the 130 passengers and crew on board are killed.

Feel free to open a discussion on this topic. There are some very good general aviation or aviation accident editors, Mjroots, MilborneOne, and Mdnavman, are just a few. Their input should be welcomed and maybe a new set of guidelines will be come up after we discuss it. If you have any more comments on the above, please write back here. I'll keep an eye out. Cheers!- William 14:10, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

*ears burning* Did someone mention my name? CC, I saw you reverted your edits via my patent articlewatch system. If you wish to open a discussion on this issue, the talk page of the article would be a good place to do so. A note at WT:AV would also be helpful if you want to garner the views of other editors.
