What is the PIPP Project

[edit]

The University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health (GSPH) has been awarded a two-year grant from the U.S. Centers for disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to evaluate the most effective use of non-medical inventions against outbreaks of influenza (flu) in schools and homes.

The Pittsburgh Influenza Prevention Project (PIPP) will work to develop a school-based early warning system to identify early cases and outbreaks of flu. In addition, it will study the best ways to help reduce the spread of flu in schools and households with school-aged children.

What are the benefits?

[edit]

This project works directly with Pittsburgh-area schools, parents and legal guardians of children in grades K through 8 to better understand the spread of flu and to reduce the number and harm of flu outbreaks in schools and homes.

Who are the PIPP partners

[edit]

The project is headed by the Center for Public Health Practice and the Center for Minority Health at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Additional key partners include the Pittsburgh Public Schools, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the Allegheny County Health Department, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A tag has been placed on Pittsburgh Influenza Prevention Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DGG (talk) 22:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am still learning Wikipedia. I just discovered your comments. The intent was to say what PIPP was and that it was a non-pharmaceutical approach to influenza intervention. The grant cycle was short. I will not be recreating this page now that it has been deleted. Cphp (talk) 19:34, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WARNING

[edit]

I call to your attention WP:COI and WP:BFAQ. The articles you have been inserting about various subdivisions and program of the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health are by WP standards public-relations style presentation of programs without sufficient encyclopedic notability for a full article. I strongly suggest you merge them as individual paragraphs into the main article for the school, as they are otherwise very like to be nominated for deletion. What you should then do with the individual fragmentary articles is turn them into Redirects. Otherwise, you can ask for their deletion by typing at the top: {{db-userreq}}DGG (talk) 22:42, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:POPHTC-logo LowRes.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on University of Pittsburgh Center for Public Health Preparedness, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. DGG ( talk ) 04:52, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
