Image Tagging Image:MercerNYU.JPG
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:MercerNYU.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. And your other uploads lack sources as well. JesseW, the juggling janitor 03:08, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Using the "show preview" button
[edit]I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. --M@rēino 03:57, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging for Image:Furman.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Furman.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Stephen Schulhofer
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your contributions to the Stephen Schulhofer article, but we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Perhaps you would like to rewrite the article in your own words. For more information, take a look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Happy editing! Melchoir 05:06, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Same for Sylvia Law and Oscar Chase. Melchoir 05:13, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
I've cleaned up Burt Neuborne, which contained material copied from [1]. Melchoir 05:17, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
And finally, Marcel Kahan is a violation like the first three. Please don't use Wikipedia as a backup service for a school's faculty database. In general, don't copy anything into Wikipedia that isn't public domain or explicitly made available under the GFDL. Melchoir 05:20, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and I've reverted your edits to Paul Tagliabue and Gary Bettman; calling your school "prestigious" is unnecessary and violates our neutral point-of-view policy. Other editors have reverted similar changes to other articles. Please refrain from promoting things on Wikipedia. If you really want to demonstrate how great New York University School of Law is, you should make meaningful contributions towards improving our coverage of its alumni, not copyright violations and peacock phrases. Good articles take time; have patience and let the evidence speak for itself! Melchoir 05:35, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Nyurobe.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Nyurobe.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image copyright problem with Image:Furman1.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Furman1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Strangerer (Talk) 19:32, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:New York University-building2.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:New York University-building2.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:55, 26 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:55, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
