Sir, I'm not trying to start a revert war here. However, could you, for instance, point to other templates that use unofficial names? It really isn't done, and besides, as I said, other names are but a click away. Biruitorul 17:36, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely do not want a revert war, but like I said: Hungarian names and other minority names ARE official in all communes and municipalities in Romania, where the minority represents 20% or more of the population, Hungarian names are in parentheses. I thought making a template would be supprted as there are very few for Romana and the Hungarian names ARE in parenthese. DávidSch 16:56, 10 April 2007 (CET)

Yes, I think the template is quite useful, but like I've said, I base my objections on three grounds:

1. Hungarian is not an official language anywhere in Romania. In 20%+ towns, it has some attributes of an official language, like signage and educational rights, but it's still not official.

2. Precedent isn't binding on Wikipedia, but it can be illustrative. Is there a comparable template that provides two names? If you look, for instance, at the template for Vojvodina, which has six official languages, only Serbian names are given, with other names provided in individual articles.

3. Hungarian names are just a click away, in the articles themselves.

Anyway, I'll ask other people what they think on the Romanian noticeboard, just so we get more opinions. Biruitorul 19:14, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough like I said, I didn't add a template to cause an argument, so I give in on this one. It isn't so important. DávidSch 16:29, 13 April 2007 (CET)

Notability of László Szávay[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on László Szávay, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because László Szávay seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting László Szávay, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Please consult Wikipedia's notability guidelines for biographical articles at Wikipedia:Notability (people), under the subheading "Creative professionals". --Rrburke(talk) 13:10, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware of this and have no problem with the fact the page may be deleted, although I think the work by this young poet deserves a mention here as this is an online living encyclopedia. I have a problem with vandals, who make POV and malicious edits, of course I am thinking of Tripman. DávidSch 15:14, 23 August 2007 (CET)

Sorry what did I remove? It said add this text to start deletion process, so I added that link, why is it me that is being accused of malicious edits when it is clearly Tripman. Please could you look into this for me and understand what I am saying. Thank You. DávidSch 15:18, 23 August 2007 (CET)

Please could you also check his talk page, where I just received a direct personal threat from him in Hungarian, which surely is against all Wiki rules. DávidSch 15:23, 23 August 2007 (CET)

Hi... I'm confused by your message on my talk page: I haven't accused you of making "malicious edits." I've merely placed a speedy deletion tag on the page because the article appears to make no claim about the subject's notability. If you disagree, feel free to place a {{hangon}} tag on the page and explain why you think the article should be retained. First, however, you may wish to consult Wikipedia's notability guidelines for biographical articles at Wikipedia:Notability (people) to decide whther you think the subject meets the notability threshold.
As for any threats by Tripman, threats are considered "personal attacks" under Wikipedia's "No Personal Attacks" policy. Please consult this page for further information. --Rrburke(talk) 13:34, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Thank you, I have placed warning 1 on Tripman's talk apge which the user removed, so not sure what to do. DávidSch 15:37, 23 August 2007 (CET)

The first course of action for a personal attack is probably to ignore it. If the user is persistent, he may be warned and then blocked. The policy covering severe instances reads as follows: "Legal threats, death threats, and issues of similar severity may result in a block without warning." --Rrburke(talk) 13:44, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
