Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 20:39, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reflecting on what I wrote, I realize the article had an excessive focus on the min or max heap implemented in an array, which is a much less useful heap than one implemented in a tree, as one does not usually know they maximum size of the problem except in trivial school problems. Yes, I did some research into the min heap in a tree, but I was just using good programming practices I learned on the job and from code I have reviewed, not from published textbooks or other scholarly writings. Maybe I should write an article on my web site so I can cite myself?
I had intended to update my edit to state that this applies to a heap implemented in a tree. I was tempted to redo the entire article as the focus on heap in array seems such a disservice. DGPickett (talk) 16:37, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I should write an article on my web site so I can cite myself? That will not work, self published websites don't meet Wikipedia's sourcing requirements. MrOllie (talk) 16:46, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did not make a copy of my insertions, so can you send them back to me? DGPickett (talk) 18:23, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
