Mets-Willet Pont

Hey Dan,

It may be difference in hardware or browsers, then. With the image left aligned, I get the references pushed down further on the page, creating a large chunk of whitespace directly below the infobox. Apparently, it renders differently on you screen. I wonder if moving the image up further would help eliminate it for both of us. But I don't know how that would play out for others. We may have to experiment to find a generally workable layout. oknazevad (talk) 23:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

The article Oakdale Merge has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable interchange

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dough4872 01:03, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

From what I saw on Google Maps, the Oakdale Merge does not look any more special than any other interchange on a suburban highway as it is just a couple ramps off of NY 27 to the parallel Montauk Highway. I hardly believe of such an interchange of deserving an article. In order for an interchange to be worthy of an article, it should typically serve as the junction of multiple major highways, have a unique ramp pattern, and coverage in multiple sources. In addition, this is a SPS and is not the best source to back up notability for the interchange. Dough4872 01:22, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Any pertinent information pertaining to the problems of this interchange can easily be mentioned in the NY 27 article, the interchange does not need a standalone article. Dough4872 01:38, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
If you want to, feel free to merge the Oakdale Merge information into NY 27. Dough4872 01:48, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
I would seriously recommend trimming the information about the Oakdale Merge in the NY 27 article. I would also recommend cleaning up the entire NY 27 article. Currently, the article is poorly structured and needs a lot of work. See New York State Route 28 for an example of what a NY road article should look like. Dough4872 02:20, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
I think some of the information regarding the interchanges are too discriminate for the article as most readers are not too interested in past interchange configurations. I also don't think the Prospect Expressway needs an entire section as the information can easily be integrated in this article. If you would like more feedback in how to improve this article, I would suggest taking this article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Highways/Peer review. With some improvements, this article can potentially become a GA someday. Dough4872 02:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
There are a few select interchanges, such as Can of Worms (interchange), which have enough notability to retain a separate article. Oakdale Merge, however, is not one of those interchanges. Dough4872 15:09, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
As I explained earlier "it is just a couple ramps off of NY 27 to the parallel Montauk Highway." I can think of other examples of interchanges with similar (but not exact) configurations, such as this interchange between US 202 and PA 252 that do not have articles. The condensed mention of the Oakdale Merge in the NY 27 article is fine. It is just not fine as a standalone article. Dough4872 15:27, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
No, it doesn't. Dough4872 15:41, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Station pictures...

Hey Dan,

Why did you remove Fulton Street (IND Eighth Avenue Line) and Jay Street – MetroTech (IND Fulton Street Line) from the station pictures needed page? Both are still showing pictures that include their former names (Bwy–Nassau and Jay St–Borough Hall). Acps110 (talkcontribs) 16:50, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Did they have these images before the stations were renamed? Whether they did or not, we can always add captions to the images mentioning that these are the old names. ----DanTD (talk) 17:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes they did. I added them to the stations needing pictures because their names had changed. Acps110 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, I just added a caption to the Fulton Street IND Eighth Avenue Line infobox. This should be an adequate substitute until the new images replace them. If you feel like reviving them, a note on this would be a good idea. ----DanTD (talk) 17:21, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

AMC Concord

I have removed your addition to the AMC Concord article because of the WP:WPACT conventions pertaining to "pop-culture references". These entries "should be strictly limited to cases where the fact of that reference influenced the sales, design or other tangible aspect of the vehicle." The act of two stupid girls smashing windows of a car is not worthy of mention in an encyclopedia article. Thanks! CZmarlin (talk) 04:07, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

The identity of the car may be noteworthy and should be identified in the article about the television program that used it, but not in the one about the particular automobile! Such is the case with the vehicles that have appeared in articles about shows such as Pimp My Ride. They are Wikilinked in those, but they are not described as being "pimped" in the car articles themselves. On the other hand, when the vehicles were part of "product placement" for marketing purposes in movies or TV shows, that is significant to mention in the car's history. I hope that helps explain the WP guidelines. CZmarlin (talk) 04:27, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Sources I haven't finished adding. Patience sir. ;) - As for the map, its useful, but not that great.Mitch32(Erie Railroad Information Hog) 04:35, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Englewood-Chicago (Erie Railroad station), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hang on}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Deleting duplicate images

My offer was basically to to move the CfD process along and not to deal with the backlog of duplicates. I deleted the ones you listed except for one that had several revisions. I think they need to be dealt with, but I'm not sure how. If you have more that affect CfD closes I'll still help out. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:21, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Glen Cove PO

It should be the building at the listed address, which AFAIU is the old post office (sometimes the NPS lists properties under a name reflecting a former use).

If you're in the process of creating a stub, I'd call it "Old Glen Cove Post Office" (don't change the name in the list; just pipelink it) to avoid confusion (cf. Old Poughkeepsie YMCA ... the NPS just calls it the YMCA, but the fact is the Poughkeepsie YMCA now has another building in town). Daniel Case (talk) 15:52, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
