Spamming and conflict of interest concerns
[edit]Hello. It appears that your main activity on Wikipedia has been adding links to the website networks.h-net.org. This is a useful website which is widely cited on Wikipedia, but this activity raises some important issues.
First, please do not add external links directly to articles. Ideally, if a specific site is useful as a reference, it can be added as a reference which directly support a specific statement. This is to prevent original research, which is not appropriate. For more information on this please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Help:Referencing for beginners. Links can also, with caution, be added to 'external links' sections. As Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout#"See also" section explains, this is often an area of dispute, so if in doubt, this should be discussed on the specific article's talk page.
Second, since you are what's known as a single purpose account, you should be aware of Wikipedia's guidelines on editing with a conflict of interest. If you think a specific link at h-net.org is useful, and you are involved with that site, you should instead propose a change on the article's talk page. I should also inform you that if you are compensated for editing Wikipedia, you must disclose this in order to comply with Wikipedia's terms of service, per Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. If you are not compensated for editing, you may still have a conflict, so if you think this is a possibility, please review the above guidelines (as well as Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide). If this doesn't apply to you, please accept my apologies.
