Dwight Morrow

[edit]

I made a few copyedits to the article and tagged the specific sentences that I felt need sources. Thanks for helping to clean up the article! Cheers, OhNoitsJamieTalk 21:46, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: cleanup; sure, I can help out. One good place to start would be adding a high school text box to the article. Here's a nice example, and here's another. (Note: there are a few different text boxes for high schools, and not every bit of information needs to be filled out in them. That particular template is a bit tricky to work with, so I'll get it started. A photograph adds a nice touch as well; do you have any photos of the school, or know of any public-domain photos? Because many images on the web are copyrighted, here's some info on obtaining images. (I'm heading out to the dog park now; will be back in a few hours). They have a nice tower at the campus. The school was built in 1930-1931 and the architect of the building is beautiful. They usually have a picture on the school's home page, which I cant access from my computer for some reason. Its located at http://dmhs.echalk.com If they dont, I think I have a picture scanned in my computer somewhere. My father took pictures of the building during my graduation, maybe I can use those if I can find them. Dmhsgarduate2006 01:05, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV issues with DMHS

[edit]

Jamie, what should I do. On the Dwight Morrow High School page their is a new user who keeps adding anti-DMHS comments that are POV and degrading to the current students. I keep changing it back to the old version, but that user keeps adding that paragraph that has no sources and is aimed to degrade the current students off the school. You're doing the right thing now (reverting because passage is unsourced, asking the user to cite sources). It's also a good idea to copy such messages to the talk page for that article. Because it's not vandalism, you need to be aware of the Three Revert Rule. Even in instances where it's obvious unsourced/POV, you should cover your bases and avoid running afoul of that policy. When you're doing the right thing (asking for sources and avoiding POV), you should end up with other editors stepping in to revert so that you can avoid the 3RR. If you feel like you're fighting a one-on-one battle, it's appropriate to ask other editors (as you did with me) to look at the issue and weigh in. If the user attempting to insert POV resorts to sockpuppets, you can request sock puppet checks from an admin. Cheers, OhNoitsJamieTalk 02:41, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for the note of support on my talk page. Are you satisfied with the current state of the DMHS article? It's quite tricky to write about subjects like that (schools, cities, or neighborhoods facing challenges, bad reputations, etc.); on one hand, it's important to follow POV guidelines and verifiability guidelines, but on the other hand, you don't want to necessarily sugar-coat the article either. You've made some really good contributions to the DMHS article; what you've done is a lot more challenging than fixing spelling errors or writing an article about your favorite video game character. Your welcome :D ! I am satisfied with the current state of the DMHS article. Thanks a lot for the encouraging statements. I hope you get to become an administrator. Dmhsgarduate2006 23:19, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had been concerned about the "painfully low" statement. If this is a direct quote, put the actual text taken from the article into quotes so that there is less confusion. Alansohn 04:22, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am utterly annoyed by the levels of vandalism at the Dwight Morrow High School article, and many of the other high school articles on my watchlist. If I see any chages, I verify that they make sense and will revert any vandalism, as necessary. 03:28, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
