Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DonDebson. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 15:57, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

new user, i now understand the trust issue with multiple accounts, meatpuppeting and sockpuppeting. aware now of the seriousness of sockpuppeting to the Wiki community. Unblock this user and IP and I will use one account only from now on please. I understand that multiple accounts can be tracked and linked so there is no reason for me to try and evade. please feel free to permanently delete the other accounts.DonDebson (talk) 00:20, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you were truly acting in good faith, you'd have disclosed the third account we weren't aware of, Harry1299. You didn't, so there's no reason to trust you. Your best path forward is to go at least six months with zero edits, then apply under WP:SO. At that point, you'll need to work to regain our trust. Yamla (talk) 10:16, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Ok will apply again in six months. DonDebson (talk) 11:36, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, I am applying for a review of this block as per WP:SO. I was reading some Wikipedia pages that had some information gaps I would like to contribute to and I just realised that it has now been 6 months since my access was revoked. As per Yamla's direction, I haven't attempted to edit a page or evade the block. Now understand that sockpuppetry results in exile from this community of editors. Will not re-offend (bit embarrassing really). Enforcement works I suppose. Please delete the puppet accounts (as previously stated, that is accounts in the plural). If this request is denied I would be curious to know whether this should be considered a lifetime ban as I'm not really familiar with the details of the policies. Lesson learned anyway DonDebson (talk) 15:44, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You may not create a sockpuppet account to request unblocking at AN either. It might have been ignored or excused if you’d clearly identified yourself, but the new account was clearly not a new user with no connection to this account. Acroterion (talk) 03:41, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Sorry if this is the wrong template but I just wanted to get a bit more clarification about why this request was denied. User:Acroterion has alleged that I created a sockpuppet account to request an unblocking at "AN". I am assuming that AN is the administrator's noticeboard. Mainly I was hoping for someone to please pass along some additional information about this supposed sockpuppet that was requesting an unblock on my behalf. I have just gone through my inbox notifications and saw that a user named "Baedo925" drop said that he or she would "pass it on". Is the sockpuppet you were referring to? If this new account is the account you were referring to I can understand why you have denied the unblock request but I can assure you that this user is not linked with this account. I would encourage you to cross-check the IP addresses of the two accounts to confirm that. I can guarentee that the IP addresses are different (unless my actual device has been hacked somehow, which I doubt is the case). To be honest, I am surprised that the AN came to the conclusion that I created a sockpuppet account in order to expedite the reversal of a ban for sockpuppeting. That seems like kind of stupid self-defeating move since it is easy for admins to investigate (although I suppose all kinds of strange things happen on this website). Anyway, I would be keen to have someone cross-check the IPs to confirm that this user Bade925 is not me (if that is the user you are referring to. Sorry to follow up again so quickly I am just genuinely confused.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:43, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User:Acroterion, User:Oshwah As a quick followup to this, I also just checked the contributions that this new user Baedo925 made before they were blocked from Wikipedia and it appears they were heavily involved in other admin board discussions about the unblocking of other banned users (not just me). This is a pattern of behaviour that is unrelated to this account in particular (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Baedo925). I think this is a case of this account being mistaken for participating in ongoing sockpuppetry when it actually wasn't. Again, it doesn't logically follow that a user trying to be unblocked for sockpuppetry would create a sockpuppet to convince the admin board that it can follow the rules. A check of the IPs would confirm that the accounts are different. If for some bizarre reason the IP address between accounts is the same I would greatly appreciate being informed as it would indicate to me that my device has been hacked. If that's the case, I would be wanting to commence an off-site discussion via email so I can take this evidence to law enforcement.
