The article Steve Pyle has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ttonyb (talk) 03:06, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I added the reference for Pyle, and expanded the article to show his membership on the Olympics team. Please do the same for the other articles you have been adding, or they will probably get deleted.

We are very glad to have articles about notable athletes, but  they MUST have references. If they  have competed on a national team sat the highest level---which is the basic requirement for them to have articles in Wikipedia-- there should always be references in the relevant newspapers, usually easily findable in Google News and Google News Archive. These references need to be added, and they need to be added at the very beginning. The article also needs to specify just what they competed in, and any records they hold.

Sometimes I have been able to check   articles like these  before deletion and add at least one necessary reference, but I cannot generally have the time to do so--and cycling is not one of the subjects in which I have the most personal interest.  It is not my responsibility to add these, nor the responsibility of anyone here but yourself. If you can write the article in the first place , you surely  have the references in front of you when you are doing so,. That's when to do it; otherwise you may find that you are wasting your efforts, because the articles will quickly get deleted. DGG ( talk ) 05:28, 31 August 2010 (UTC) [reply]
