Proposed deletion of John Allen (Arizona politician)

The article John Allen (Arizona politician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability, per WP:POLITICIAN

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Arizona politician stubs

I don't want to keep on proposing deletion for all the Arizona politician stub articles that you've posted, without talking to you.

WP:POLITICIAN includes "members or former members of a national, state or provincial legislature," but lists this as a secondary criterion. They still have to meet the primary notability criterion: "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article."

While Sylvia Allen may be notable for saying that trees are stealing our water supplies, most of the legislator stub articles are about people for whom there is no significant coverage. Maybe someday they'll be notable, but now there's nothing to talk about. Fearofreprisal (talk) 08:02, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Of the three, the strongest case is for Alston, who was an elected state senator for 18 years; Barto is an elected initial-term state senator; Allen has previously served. WP:Poloutcomes doesn't cover this specifically, but elected state senators are more frequently kept than state representatives as Almanac-type information; if you believe that they should be deleted rather than converted to redirects for the time being, take it to AFD (bundled or unbundled). I'll post the talkback, then de-prod them. Dru of Id (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Actually, I see they've already been de-prodded by others. Dru of Id (talk) 15:04, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
It's possible that I don't understand the WP policy regarding notability of state legislators. Well... probable. Fearofreprisal (talk) 19:45, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
