Brig Gen nominations[edit]

Hi! Rober J. Hutt, Anthony J. Mastalir, Jacob Middleton Jr., Kristen L. Panzenhagen, and Brian D. Sidari were recently nominate for promotion to O-7. Would you happen to be able to provide their current assignments? KingEdinburgh (talk) 10:21, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on my edit revert[edit]

The vice chief of space operations is indeed a four-star position, but that paragraph covers statutory four-star positions, meaning that the rank afforded to that position is codified in law. The chief and vice chief of staff of the United States Army (10 U.S.C. § 7033 and 10 U.S.C. § 7034), commandant and assistant commandant of the Marine Corps (10 U.S.C. § 8043 and 10 U.S.C. § 8044), chief and vice chief of naval operations (10 U.S.C. § 8033 and 10 U.S.C. § 8035), etc. all have such codifications of rank.

The VCSO has no such requirement yet. Pay attention to the 2023 NDAA however, Section 501 provides for two statutory four-star generals in the Space Force. If the final version of the law passes with this section, the VCSO will have its statutory rank and you can safely re-add your edit later on. SuperWIKI (talk) 13:48, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SuperWIKI While the 2023 NDAA, that is currently making its way through Congress, does provide a statutory limit of two four-star generals for the Space Force, it does not specifically make the VCSO a statutory four-star general, unlike the statutory subsections that you provided above. Each of those subsections specifically states what rank the officer occupying those positions must hold. The 2023 NDAA still does not provide that distinction for the VCSO. By the VCSO not being a statutory office, the Department of the Air Force has the ability to amend or eliminate the office without Congressional and presidential approval via a Congressional act. Not that the DAF would ever do that, but they currently have that authority. Since the other vice chiefs are codified into law, their service and/or military department(s) would need said approval from Congress and the president to amend or eliminate. Combined Joint Force Space Component Command[edit]

Hi! I noticed your edit on Douglas Schiess. Is it a new unit or is it just CFSCC? If it's a new unit, what would happen to CFSCC? Thank you! KingEdinburgh (talk) 04:09, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The new unit is US Space Forces - Space (S4S) which will combine CFSCC and JTF-SD responsibilities into this new USSF service component. CJFSCC is the joint authority given to the S4S commander by US Space Command, much like most USAF components to other COCOMs are the CFACC. All of this doesn’t happen until the 3-star is confirmed. Will CFSCC and JTF-SD be inactivated? KingEdinburgh (talk) 16:40, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes after confirmation and S4S standup. DEL 5 and 15 will work for S4S. Dschiess (talk) 17:14, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
