Are you an 'Authorised' and or 'Official' moderator for Wikipedia?

I am very confused by the inconsistent editing of pages related to Rising Damp, it's cast members and writer. One minute the external links are removed for 'fan' related reasons, then they are removed for content, not 'fan' related?

I have recently seen edits to links made to the page (and related) that have been sat on the site for months - I've monitored this. Yet, I post a valued resource which is deleted same day and yet the others remain? I am sure you'll appreciate just how baffling this is and, one of them, being a discussion forum? Hardly a reliable source for material.

I am in no way connected to anyone on the show, Rising Damp. I used to run the Official website back in 2001, and have worked on many projects related to the series - you can read about this on my Intro page https://risingdamp.org/overview/

I have been a credited source on television, radio and publications.

The website is a not for profit resource and educational site for anyone looking to find information on the series. Whilst guidelines for Wikipedia do stipulate Fansite are not allowed, this is something quite difference. I do not make any money from it, and I do not sell any items. I feature official published articles with the cast, crew, writer etc. who contributed to my previous website and publication, and have access to over 20yrs of archival information which I am posting.

I wish this material to be available for all to view, to celebrate the series and its creators.

If you are a moderator, please advise next steps on how to allow my external link to be placed.

The link you are adding is to your own website and this would be considered a conflict of interest – as such you could discuss it on the talk page or place an edit request for the link to be added. You could also disclose any COI regarding the site on the article talk page or by creating a user page which notes your connection with it. EdwardUK (talk) 16:57, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edward, this is contrary to other sites listed, owned and run by website creators, like mine. I am not sure how this is any different? And still, inappropriate links that do not 'link' remain on the Leonard Rossiter page!? Extraordinary. So this is all very amateurish.

I have provided all supporting information to review but, evidently without reviewing, suggests that you are not a moderator but a casual wikipedia user. Is this correct?

Edward UK, as advised by Wikipedia, I am using this platform to resolve this challenge brought on by you. I have fully disclosed my reasoning behind the link, as a trusted source and credited researcher of the subject matter, yet you have not replied? One cannot judge and lay accusations without providing answers to answers. I had researched many sitcoms on wikipedia before posting here, and all reasons thus far are inconsistent with other findings on respected pages.

It's very disappointing when this option of resolution is available, yet you choose not to answer questions?

Please stop. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. MarnetteD|Talk 16:33, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As you are monitoring, you have allowed inappropriate external links to remain posted. You remove mine which is relevant, a secure site, but allow a forum link to be posted. Or a link that goes to webpage not related to the subject matter. I'm sure you can see the conflict here.

This is not a website for advertising or promotion, it is a not for profit site, to be used only as a resource for validated information based on the series. I am a credited source on the series, you can see this in my introduction. I am not affiliated to the show and created this site as a resource for everyone interested, once authorised by ITV and Eric Chappell. Obviously this is not the place to share the information with everyone...who'd have thought!
