Hey! For this project are we editing an article? Or are we creating one? Dunlapco (talk) 15:50, 4 February 2019 (UTC) UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM 15:53, 4 February 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reuben S Fortushniak (talkcontribs) [reply]

Hello, DzDylan, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Inferno (Dante)

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to explain why the content was removed by Deor:

Philosophy of Dante's Inferno

This is written in an essay-type style. It's hard to determine which parts are meant to be backed up by the sources given, which look to be very generally about Dante himself. You also used wording like "for example" and "it is difficult". This type of writing comes across as being written by a single, specific person, as it's one writer choosing the example over others and also making a judgement on whether or not it's difficult to evaluate Dante's work in a philosophical light. It's something that is subjective to the reader, as someone may argue that another example is better or that evaluating the philosophy is easier than stated or that different aspects could be used. There are also some "if... then/so..." statements, which give off the impression of a persuasive argument.

I hope that this helps explain what happened! Deor, if I left anything out, definitely feel free to add to this! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:23, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
