Speedy deletion of "Wings Financial Federal Credit Union"

[edit]

A page you created, Wings Financial Federal Credit Union, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is obvious advertising or promotional material.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Gpia7r (talk) 20:03, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alas, your article was deleted. Unfortunately, it appears to be cut-and-paste from various sources including: http://www.linkedin.com/companies/wings-financial-federal-credit-union and http://www.wingsfinancial.com/asp/membership.asp . As you have stated that you are employed by the credit union, you should read WP:COI. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks. Plastikspork (talk) 20:13, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that you have already saved a userspace copy of your article, here. Let me know if you want any advice how to revise it to make it less of an advertisement, without copyright infringement, and more likely to survive inclusion in WP. Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 20:17, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone please explain to me why my page was deleted!?!?

From the above I think it was deleted simply because it appears to be material from other websites, even if the material is suitable you would need to show you have permision to make it freely available (and modifiable) here. Also it reads like promotional material rather than an article from a neutral point of view. Reread the messages above and follow any blue links to see what's being referenced. And lastly remember that even if this Credit Union is notable enough to have an article here, that others can edit it - the resulting entry may not be what you want!. Wikipedia isn't really a medium for promoting things :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 10:54, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks- so I should just rewrite the article. Or how can I prove that I have the authorization to publish this information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

Really?!?!?! This Wikipedia is driving me crazy! I dont know what else to do.— Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

Rewrite from scratch :-). Leave out "us", "you", "best", "unsurpassed" etc etc! Follow this link: category:Credit unions of the United States and look at other similar articles and use one that has many contributors as a template. Think more "who, what, where, when, why" rather than trying to sell the credit union to readers! :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 21:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok- Now next step. How or where can I find out how to change the layout of my page and also put up a logo? Thanks to everyone for all your help on this~ I really appreicate it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

First upload the logo using the 'upload file' link in the toolbox on the left side of the screen. Second add a link using something like at the top of the page. You can get an idea of how this works by looking at the wiki-source for other pages. By the way, you should also consider adding more inline citations between ref tags: . Best of luck. Plastikspork (talk) 17:08, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and make sure that you have permission to upload the image. You will see the warnings when you upload. Plastikspork (talk) 17:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OKay- so I uploaded the image but I dont understand how to get it on my page~ Wikipedia is a goofy site!!! Help!!!— Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

I see. Now paste the following at the top of the article: . Ideally this would be put in an infobox, but that can come later. Plastikspork (talk) 20:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So when I did that it came up with nothing but an error in the box, :( I dont understand this! — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia was having some technical difficulties with images over the past couple days, which is why the example wasn't working. It appears the problems are (at least temporarily) fixed. It looks like you were able to get the logo in there. Plastikspork (talk) 04:16, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJLindell (talkcontribs)

No problem. You may want to read WP:LAYOUT and browse through WP:MOS, as well as, looking at the pages for other credit unions. In particular, WP does not use title case for section headings, and link targets (the part before the vertical bar) are case sensitive. So, for example, Checking will display as Checking, where as Checking will display as Checking, which is a dead link. Good luck.
