His research includes analyzing progress in meeting emission reduction targets, promoting sustainable development, and addressing vulnerabilities to climate change. Akash began his career as a graduate researcher at the Water Research Commission, contributing to the COVID-19 surveillance and reference group. He played a crucial role in developing a system for the Giyani Water Project in Limpopo, focusing on improving policies related to water, health, and infectious diseases. He later transitioned to WaterAid as a Programme Officer, where he concentrated on implementing various WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects in South Africa, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. During his tenure at WaterAid Southern Africa, Akash collaborated with organizations such as the United Nations and international NGOs from the USA and UK. He also worked closely with the South African government, facilitating knowledge transfer and project handovers.
