RedWarn is great!
[edit]RedWarn is great! I'm loving it (even though I need a separate account to use it). Prahlad balaji (RedWarn) (parent account•discuss) 16:51, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Prahlad balaji, Thanks for the feedback! Ed6767 (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767 You're welcome! There are a few problems though. First, you can only report vandalism, and second, you can't fold it up in a dropdown menu, like you can with TW. Other than that it's great though! --Stay safe, ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 18:36, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Prahlad balaji, I'm hoping to have all sorts of Admin Reporting soon, that's why I suggest having both Twinkle and RW enabled for now so you can use Twinkle where RW is lacking at the moment. Ed6767 (talk) 18:38, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767 Ok, but could you fold up the icons in a dropdown menu? --Stay safe, ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 18:39, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Prahlad balaji, yes, I'm thinking of a solution regarding that now as I add more and more features the more cluttered the interface will get, also bearing in mind some users personal preferences too. Ed6767 (talk) 18:42, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Special pages
[edit]Can you remove the icons on special pages, as they cannot be used? CrazyBoy826 03:17, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- CrazyBoy826, will do. Thanks for the feedback! Ed6767 (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Feedback
[edit]Can you add an option to disable right-click options? I do not always want them visible. Aasim 04:33, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, will add. Thank you for the suggestion! Ed6767 (talk) 12:35, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
RedWarn dropdown not working on Timeless (when placed on sidebar)
[edit]I wish I could expand those tools again. I think the event handler was not done properly. Can you fix it? Thanks a lot! Aasim 22:20, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, thanks for pointing that out! I'll look into it. Ed6767 (talk) 18:39, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Right Clicking/Open in New Page
[edit]When I right click on a user/page name, I used to be able to open in a new tab, behind all my other tabs. Now I get a mini-menu of sorts and when I do select an option it takes the focus. I think it should open the page in the background when it was selected via a right-click.Sir Joseph (talk) 15:03, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, I'm not sure I could implement this due to browser security which is designed to prevent pop-unders, but I'll take a look into what could be done. For now, I use a middle click (click scroll wheel or three-finger trackpad tap) to open in a new tab. Ed6767 (talk) 16:59, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, OK, but I'm not sure I follow, when I used to right click, I had the option to open in new tab and it went to a new tab, but it wasn't the focus, I went to it when I went to it. Now with Redwarn, when I right click, I get the menu and when I select one of the options, it opens a new tab but it brings it to the main focus. I think that's what you are talking about too, but just wanted to clarify.
- Just wanted to mention a bug/issue, when I go to recent changes and then view the list of articles, on the left side I'll see the articles, when I click the article, the right side will not open Redwarn or the article or whatever it's supposed to do. I get a Chrome error. Sir Joseph (talk) 17:56, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, do you mean in RedWarn patrol? Ed6767 (talk) 18:01, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, yes, and the URL is a BLOB, and the error message is that Wikipedia refused to connect and I get the sad face, on the right side of the screen. The left side works fine and continues to scroll. Sir Joseph (talk) 18:06, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, ah. I know that bug, but I don't receive it when just viewing articles? The only times it comes up is when editing pages, and again, it's another security issue that prevents this from working, but I am working on a solution that would open in a new tab or another mitigation method. Thanks for pointing it out! Ed6767 (talk) 18:10, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, So I had a hunch it might have something to do with my adblock, and I think it does. I have uBlock Origin on Chrome. I disabled it on the page and I am occasionally getting it to work now. So I think that is the issue, beforehand it wasn't working at all. Sir Joseph (talk) 18:09, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, I use AdBlock Plus and get no issues other than when trying to edit a page, so it could be that Ed6767 (talk) 18:11, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, OK, thanks. I did have another issue. When you right click on a wiki link, but the wiki isn't this Wikipedia, but another one, for example wikisource, you still get the minimenu but you then have to select one of the options, such as user page or user talk page, but it goes to the English Wikipedia. You can try it out at WP:AN at the Kendrick section, there is a link to his contribs at the wikisource. Thanks. Sir Joseph (talk) 01:38, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, I should clarify now I'm actually fixing these bugs. The issue with patrol was caused by a security update which prevented iframes (what patrol used to get a browser within a browser) from loading Wikipedia. I'm fixing this in the next update - also, the open in a new tab but in the background sadly isn't possible due to that technically counting as a "pop-under" - like have you ever been on one of those really dodgy sites that opens a quadrillion extra windows in the background - many sites stop all that now and it just wouldn't really be possible - but you can still get the same functionality if you use CTRL+click or middle-click on a link to open it in a new tab and in the background. Ed6767 (talk) 14:01, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, Thanks for the reply, and yes, I am starting to ctrl-click, it's just a new habit I have to learn. Sir Joseph (talk) 01:34, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sir Joseph, if you don't like the right click menu or can't get used to it, in the next update (along with many other major improvements) you can disable this. Ed6767 (talk) 01:41, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Can you add
[edit]A trash can icon to RW for "nominate for deletion"? It can then ask whether the article should be nominated for speedy deletion or for deletion discussion, with the option to notify the page creator, etc. Aasim 00:56, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, XfD and CSD are being planned - thanks for your suggestions! Ed6767 talk! 08:58, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
icons render some drop-down menus unusable
[edit]Using Opera 68.0.3618.165 on Windows 7. Attempting to use some dropdown menus is difficult, if not impossible, on some pages where the menu overlaps RedWarn's icons. Example: on a user page, attempting to use the User>User Logs> submenu doesn't work because as soon as the cursor moves over the "New Message" icon, the log submenu disappears. Since looking at user logs is necessary for some anti-vandal or anti-POV work, this seems counter-productive. I hope this helps. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:49, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
- Eggishorn, it's a very weird bug with CSS indexing, and I've tried to mitigate the issue by using JS to push menus above RedWarn's icons, thanks for reporting that it's still happening - but while I try to fix, you might want to change your icon position to the sidebar in the meantime, or you can use RedWarn's right-click menu to access a user's logs (right-click the "User page" tab selector) Ed6767 talk! 09:01, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Simple English Wikipedia
[edit]I would like to see this imported to the Simple English Wikipedia as I sometimes edit there. Interstellarity (talk) 13:17, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
- Interstellarity, we're getting cross-wiki support working soon, so hopefully we'll be able to get it there soon. Ed6767 talk! 17:23, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
Your Subject
[edit]Hi all. Good job on RW. Just started using it and had a question. When you revert someone's edit and it automatically opens a window with a ready to go warning for their talk page; is there a way to welcome first instead of resorting straight to a level 1 warning? Or am I just not seeing that option? Robvanvee 15:50, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Robvanvee: Thanks for asking - there is no direct way to do this at the moment, but you can use the "quick template" button to welcome users (either right click their username after closing out the new notice dialog, or click the quick template button on the rollback or userpage). I'm working on getting a team together to help fill lots of the holes regarding the missing welcome templates, but you can use the "quick welcome" pack I created for the most basic templates. Ed6767 talk! 17:38, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- Just seeing this now! Thanks Ed6767. Robvanvee 12:45, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
Two problems
[edit]Hi Ed6767, thanks for fixing the tooltip issue I addressed last time. I also love the new icon customisability you've added as well! I have two new problems that I found:
- When I use the Multiple Action Tool between selected revisions, the lime green text blends into the white background and makes it hard to read. This same lime green text appears in the link in RedWarn Preferences → Behavior → Extensions. Is it possible to change it or allows users to customise the colour for the next rev?
- I tried using the "Send the user a new message on their talk page" using RedWarn's dropdown user context menu. It works really well with adding the signature code already; a bit too well, actually. I was trying to send a user a template that includes the signature code which is to be substituted. After deleting the pre-entered signature code, the interface prevented me from sending the message until I added it back in. Can an option be added to suppress this feature or warn users that they are sending a message without the signature code but allow them to do so anyway? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:19, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Tenryuu: Thanks for the feedback, and sorry about that! Regarding the colours, there are some conflicts regarding UI colour schemes that aren't exactly easy to iron out, but I'll see what I can do. Regarding signing, I've added your suggestion to the tracking list. Ed6767 talk! 15:23, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
Fix Right-click menu
[edit]If the user right-clicks a second time, the user should be given the default right-click menu for their browser. Aasim 19:32, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Tooltip overlay
[edit]Hi, I just installed this script today. I haven't used much of it, but I really like the user-friendly interfaces! I have a question: is there a setting to make tooltips have priority when being displayed? When I hover over the icons in my watchlist, the tooltips are obscured by the Edit your list of watched pages button. Is there a way to make them display over on top of it? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:11, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Tenryuu, yes - I'll see if I can fix this for the next update. Thanks for the feedback! Ed6767 talk! 14:55, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Fixed! Ed6767 talk! 23:58, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Feature Request
[edit]Hello. I would like to request a new feature, specifically with template packs. Adding the ability to add already existing templates without constantly having to subsitute. Henry20090 (talk) 15:01, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
- Henry20090, thanks for the suggestion! I'll think about how I can implement a feature like that. Ed6767 talk! 23:57, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Don't get rid of "Current"
[edit]That is how I know that the edit is a current revision. Instead, have icons right next to the edit (like Twinkle does). Aasim 07:06, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- I am talking about on user contribution pages. Aasim 07:07, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Disable RedWarn on Special Pages
[edit]Aside from the RedWarn preferences and the feedback. Also hide the RedWarn icons when the page is uneditable (like on the Main Page). Aasim 03:55, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, I added the red lock in rev13 when the page is uneditable? I should probably add an option to hide them entirely though - thanks for the suggestion. Ed6767 talk! 17:18, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, that is all that should be visible; the icons that do not modify the existing page, and the redwarn settings. No rollback or preview rollback when the page is locked from editing. Aasim 20:01, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, oh! Yes, that's an oversight on my part. Added to my todo - thanks for pointing that out. Ed6767 talk! 20:03, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, PS did you see I added a magic word to this page which hides the new section link? That is so people do not try to use the “new topic” button on this talk page :) Aasim 20:57, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, ah, cool! Thanks :) Ed6767 talk! 20:58, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, can you maybe also add touch support and move the pending changes accept/decline buttons maybe above the dialogue so I can still review pending changes on mobile? I prefer to use Timeless on mobile because it is more responsive and I still have all of my scripts. Aasim 21:00, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, touch support is hard to implement as it's mainly Wikipedia that's restricting that. MDL (the library I use) fully supports touch, but it's likely I'll just make a RedWarn mobile app in future for Android and iOS - if I can stomach 1. buying a Mac 2. buying an iPhone 3. paying the £99 license fee that is Ed6767 talk! 21:03, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Another suggestion: categories for easier navigation in the user warnings dropdown
[edit]In Twinkle, there are bolded categories for the dropdown you see when you're warning a user. Is there any way you could add something like this to RedWarn? Sorry if this has already been mentioned. —GalaxyDogtalk • contribs 23:28, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- GalaxyDog, I could implement this, yes. The categories are already in the database, so it wouldn't be too hard - I'll look into a way to add this in the next update. Thanks for the suggestion! Ed6767 talk! 17:19, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you, Ed6767! That will make it much easier to find what I'm looking for. —GalaxyDogtalk • contribs 17:36, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
Adding unnecessary space before warnings
[edit]RedWarn is a great tool — thank you for making it! However, it always adds multiple newlines before warnings; this is inconsistent with what other anti-vandalism tools (such as Twinkle and Huggle) do. I'm not sure if this is on purpose or not (or if it has been mentioned before), but I just thought I'd voice my view on this. Thanks again! --GalaxyDogtalk • contribs 22:15, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- Note: I fixed the {{Archive top}} template below because it was causing this message to go inside it. --GalaxyDogtalk • contribs 22:51, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

It seems as if this interface is causing issues with auto accept. I am extended confirmed, yet need to wait for a reviewer... But, I dunno why the interface even popped up, I'm not a reviewer. Henry20090 (talk) 22:45, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello. There is a new notice template I would like to see included in RW. Template:Uw-generic4im. Could Ed perhaps add this? Take care, Henry20090 (talk) 10:55, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Henry20090, thanks for pointing it out! It'll be added in rev13 under the "Generic Warning" category, so you'll have the choice between a l4 and a l4im. Ed6767 (talk) 16:38, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
No problem! Once again, take care, Henry20090 (talk) 16:45, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Henry20090, I've had to remove it as it was deleted. Thanks for pointing it out, though. Ed6767 (talk) 23:41, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

RW not working on all diffs
[edit]The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
I came across an unsourced change in RC patrol and clicked on a diff link. It was in the form /w/index.php?diff=id. RedWarn did not recognize that it was a diff and did not display the diff icons. Aasim 21:54, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome Aasim, I noticed this too. I'll work on the way diff pages are detected now. Ed6767 (talk) 16:43, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, I think you can just use
(new URL(window.location)).searchParams.get("diff")
I think or something like that... Aasim 17:11, 2 June 2020 (UTC)- Awesome Aasim, I just decided to detect the diff table, hopefully, there shouldn't be too much of a performance impact. Ed6767 (talk) 18:31, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ed6767, guess it is coming up soon!
- I think all the Twinkle scripts are loaded directly from GitHub as well, so I think there may be a way to just load individual modules from GitHub then you can update them there in real time... but then, I have never used GitHub, so I may be completely wrong...
