Spelling
[edit]As per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (spelling) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English please don't change the spelling in articles. In this case the Government of Nunavut uses licence. Thanks. Enter CBW, waits for audience applause, not a sausage. 22:24, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. I had to check because I wasn't sure what spelling we used up here. Enter CBW, waits for audience applause, not a sausage. 23:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Gold Star Mothers Day
[edit]Hi, I spotted your note at WP:ERRORS and thought I'd answer it here. Holidays and observances on Sept 29 for the "On This Day" section of the main page appear by editing Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/September 29. Gold Star Mothers Club, which is the relevant article, is currently ineligible to appear there because the guidelines say that the article should be free of yellow-level tags and problems. It's been tagged as needing {{cleanup}} for over five years. I can see a lot of unreferenced material that needs removing or rewriting and referencing, for example. If you can do this before Sept 29, great! If not, there's always next year. If you manage to improve the article to a decent extent, put a note on Wikipedia talk:Selected anniversaries/September 29 to say that you think it could now be added to the list, and Howcheng (the regular steward of the On This Day section) will take a look, I'm sure. Thanks, BencherliteTalk 15:11, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Block message:
Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Maroonbeard". The reason given for Maroonbeard's block is: " Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully. Why can't I edit Wikipedia? Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy. Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username? Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. What can I do now? If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead. If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following: Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must: Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. ".
Accept reason: I have lifted the autoblock. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 21:39, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Cooling Castle
[edit]Hi there. I saw your report at WP:ERRORS. For future reference, you can just fix articles like that yourself, as I've done here. ERRORS is only really for reporting problems that are literally on the main page and need an admin to fix because only admins can edit it. For anything else, feel free to be bold and make corrections yourself. Best, Jenks24 (talk) 17:13, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
