Hello, EggRoll97. Please check your email; you've got mail!

I have sent you an email regarding about that cross-wiki LTA, whom you've declined my new filter request; that email I sent contains screenshots of their page and how my new filter code matches their edits, and I will reply to you the new filter code. 491 set to warn, disallow and tag

I think you made a mistake on 491 (hist · log); you should remove the tag and the warning so it will be set to just disallow, thanks. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 18:14, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Thanks Codename Noreste, nice catch. I thought I had clicked those off when I saved. EggRoll97 (talk) 18:22, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Clarification request: Contentious topics restrictions, which you initiated, has been archived with the following outcome:

There is a rough consensus among participating Committee members that pursuant to Wikipedia:Contentious topics § Restriction notices, protections carried out under the procedure do not require an editnotice. While topic-wide restrictions do not require editnotices (though any user may add one to a page), page-specific restrictions do: editors may ask enforcing administrators to add any missing page-specific ones. There was no appetite among responding members to remove the requirements behind editnotices.

It's something about a reactivation request to a disabled private filter, sure. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 23:36, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Comment on the block filter reply: follow-up

Good morning. Could you explain what you meant in your reply at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Edit_filter/False_positives/Reports&diff=next&oldid=970485330? I missed it a few years ago, but I don't quite under understand what's the relation of the article's talk page to the filter mechanism? Dominik27.09 (talk) 09:36, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

The edit was performed, looks like I clicked the wrong template in. EggRoll97 (talk) 15:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Criteria and advice when someone runs for EFM

Do you have any criteria or advice if someone wishes to run for the edit filter manager right? I plan to do so almost a year after I successfully ran for the edit filter helper right. I'm good with edit filter syntax and I am familiar with regex, and when I get promoted to EFM, I plan to do a bold update to one of the private 1273 filters with a refinement I made, along with some other private filter changes. I fully understand that the EFM role is extremely dangerous if used maliciously or recklessly, so that's why I have 2FA enabled on all projects, including here.

Also, I have written some private Meta filters (one of them with the help of PharyngealImplosive7), so I will wait a bit and modify filters here before requesting the global abuse filter helper right (e.g. so I can import some Meta filters to here). If sensitive, consider emailing me instead. Thank you. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 04:35, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

Email

I’ve sent you an email. -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:09, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

I've also sent this user an email explaining the target of the new LTA filter they've written (no, not the user above me). Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 02:43, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
@Codename Noreste: Done and responded to. EggRoll97 (talk) 03:11, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
Came here to do this, probably that's what these people did also. Well, whatever -- let me know if you need any deleted revs. jp×g🗯️ 02:59, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
@JPxG: Thanks! I think I've got it, and I suspect you're here for about the same reason, but I can email you details if you'd like. EggRoll97 (talk) 03:11, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
@Malcolmxl5: I have responded in email form. EggRoll97 (talk) 03:11, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

RE

Sorry for misremembering that. Also I wonder what is left on that Phab? Oh well, no point in talking about it now. – 2804:F1...E6:56E2 (talk) 21:44, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, just QA testing is left. EggRoll97 (talk) 02:49, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
  • The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.
