New wikipedia user who was testing out edit functions out on the company page I work, which I won’t do again. Emephant (talk) 01:00, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would not call your edits "tests", they seem pretty complete. To get unblocked you will need to show that you understand our rules on conflict of interest and paid editing. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 01:22, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your reply. I do understand and see in hindsight it was the incorrect thing to do. I wasn’t aware of this rule. I won’t make any further edits on pages for companies where I am being paid to work, without acknowledging that I am an employee. Not doing so is a conflict of interest and against the ethos of Wikipedia. Thanks for your time today. 🙂Emephant (talk) 01:44, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good start, but you will need to describe exactly what edits you wish to make(to what articles or topic areas). You will need to comply with WP:PAID for the edits you made as well. 331dot (talk) 08:28, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I will add the following to my user page: Plus, the following on our company page: Plus update as I edit associated pages of organisations that we sponsor or are affiliated with. Hi, I have read through the Wikipedia policy and plan to add the following to my profile and relevant pages: “ This is a good start, but you will need to describe exactly what edits you wish to make(to what articles or topic areas). You will need to comply with WP:PAID for the edits you made as well. 331dot (talk) 08:28, 4 August 2020 (UTC)” Plus, the following on our company page: Plus update as I edit associated pages of organisations that we sponsor or are affiliated with. I plan to also contribute to other pages which I am not affiliated with or paid to edit. I am a fairly new member so hadn’t found the chance to contribute to other pages yet. Thanks Emma Emephant (talk) 12:32, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Two weeks ago you claimed your paid edits were just innocent tests. Shortly afterward you accepted they weren't "tests" but claimed to be unaware of WP:PAID and promised to at some point reveal the list of pages you are paid to work on. Since then you've mentioned one such company but kept the "affiliates" list vague. If you want to be unblocked you will need some community trust, starting with a full list of all the "affiliate" pages and some indication that you have read all of WP:PAID and WP:COI and intend to do as it says. Mildly, this is not a bargaining process - either you agree to follow the policy on paid editing, or you don't. -- Euryalus (talk) 15:07, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Euryalus:, thanks for your feedback. I am sorry for the confusion - I never stated that the edits were not tests - they were tests in terms of working out how to cite, and using other page features. I did this on my own company page, so that if anything was done incorrectly I was not adversely impacting other organisations or people’s pages. I said that I understood and realised in hindsight that editing my company page was the wrong thing to do. The affiliates that I mentioned earlier are organisations that we sponsor and give money to, but that I am not paid by to edit for - these mostly include charity and not for profit organisations, which I am happy to disclose. I have added these below:

I have read both the WP:COI and WP:PAID pages. Moving forward, I will use the request edit {{request edit}} feature, rather than editing directly on the pages I have just listed.

I am trying to learn how to Wikipedia properly, and in an ethical way, and I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time here while working all of this out.Emephant (talk) 12:00, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Emephant, Wikipedia's paid editing disclosure policy requires that you provide links to your profiles on all sites where you "advertise, solicit or obtain paid Wikipedia-editing services". GSS💬 04:32, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@GSS: Hi, this is my only Wikipedia profile. We don’t advertise for this as a service anywhere (we don’t use contractors or pay externally for this type of work in our marketing team) - I work at the company directly.

@MER-C:@Euryalus:Hi! I just saw your comment. Finnmiller71 is my manager. 🤦‍♀️ We are both on LinkedIn if you need to verify this. I don’t really know how else to prove that we are two seperate people. @GSS:@MER-C:@Euryalus: The account Finnmiller71 is run by my manager - it is not my account. Request reason:

Hi, Thanks for your time last year. I just want to reconfirm that is my only Wikipedia account, and I am unsure how I can prove this to the Wikipedia community. Below is an updated list of affiliates/organisations that we sponsor as an organisation but that I am not paid by to edit - these mostly include charity and not for profit organisations, for which I am happy to disclose that we have a connection.

I have read both the WP:COI and WP:PAID pages and agree to follow policies around paid editing, including using the request edit {{request edit}} feature so that changes are moderated first, rather than editing directly on the pages above. We don’t pay for Wikipedia edits or engage in that type of behaviour - I work directly for my employer.Emephant (talk) 02:44, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We refers to my company. I was blocked for editing my company’s page.

I’m the only person using this account.

I’ve also noticed errors in pages I can’t submit to be fixed in any way - not even as a suggested edit because I’m blocked. Eg. “Prince Henry” is currently listed as Prince Harry’s HRH title on his wiki page. Emephant (talk) 01:17, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Um, "Prince Henry [of Sussex]" is his official title. "Harry" is the English short form of "Henry" and has used since the medieval era. The article's title uses "Harry" as per the WP:COMMONNAME policy. Also, see WP:SOVEREIGN. Matuko (talk) 03:52, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
