Hi Ewisch

Thanks for your message. I understand and respect your concern and activism for people with mood disorders. In fact, I have lost three bipolar/manic-depressive friends who killed themselves during lows (including Pete Shaugnessy). I also run a face-to-face support group for people suffering from depression. However, I don't think people come to Wikipedia looking for support, they want notable links, and there are dozens of online support groups on the web which they can find directly (indeed 'the bipolar blog' isn't even top Google hit for 'bipolar blog'). I'd suggest you promote the site through dmoz.org and Zeal (online directories), because you will find a consensus among Wikipedia editors that promotion is not what Wikipedia is for (see WP:NOT). I wouldn't promote the organisations I'm involved in, either. It's not usual to consult people about every edit, indeed it would be prohibitively time-consuming to do so. When there is a dispute, it is usually done on the article's talk page.

Also, could I ask if you noticed that the depression (mood) article is only an encyclopaedia article about the mood, not the clinical depression article? This is historically why Sadness redirects there.

Hi Ewisch. First, let me say that you are most welcome here at Wikipedia. Like Cedders, I know several people with bipolar disorder, and I've seen its effects first hand. I appreciate your concerns about my removal of the link: I've tried to explain my reasons for doing this on my talk page. You might want to read about the HONcode principles [1]: they are a very good guide to best practices for sites on medical topics.
