Extraneous stuff in references

[edit]

Welcome to Wiki! I've noticed you've been adding extra things like "®", "The Official F1® Website" and "language=en" when providing refs, esp. to the Formula1.com website. These are unnecessary and only clog the refs. I've removed these (along with a few other things) from 1994 Canadian Grand Prix (see my edit here). Could you please be mindful about not adding these in the future, and maybe also go over your recent edits to the 1994 individual race articles and fix those as well? cherkash (talk) 16:56, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Cherkash: I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I was using the automatic citing and not checking. I did not know I had to change it as well, sorry. I also saw that you moved Fittipaldi's DSQ to the front of the Retirements. It was discussed in the 1994 Belgian Grand Prix that the DSQ placement should be at the back of the non-finishers as it is in more recent articles, specifically the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix where both Renaults were put at the back. I know things are a bit of a mess in terms of consistency, but I was told that it was not needed. I will fix this and the Cites later when I have the time. Cheers! Ah good catch about the DSQ: it was accidental on my part and I've moved it back now. Which automatic citing tool are you using? Many of them are too automatic and just repeat whatever the websites want to claim about themselves or the subject (i.e. webpage titles, website taglines, etc.) – which in some cases like this are clearly not appropriate to be used verbatim in Wikipedia. So please check your edits carefully and hand-edit them as necessary. cherkash (talk) 23:13, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
