Notability of Tuotu

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Tuotu, by WWGB (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Tuotu seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Tuotu, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 11:36, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"nn corp" means non-notable corporation. There was nothing in the article to meet our notability standards.

I can't speak or read Chinese. If you really want to recreate the article and rely on Chinese-language sources to prove notability, I suggest you seek out one of these users, who describe themselves as native Chinese speakers, and get them to help you. Daniel Case 23:41, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two of three references you provided are forum posts. We don't consider those reliable sources. The other was just a passing reference on a page listing lots of downloads. They establish its existence, but not its notability. We would need to see two non-trivial references, i.e. newspaper or magazine articles discussing the software at some length, to consider it notable and, as you claim, popular in China.

I have found the Chinese Wikipedia's version of the notability page here. I don't know if their standards are the same as ours, but they have to be similar. The reliable sources page in Chinese is here. Again, I have no idea how similar they are.

In any event, to undelete an article, especially one where the deleting admin cannot fully assess the supporting information, it is usually better to go to deletion review. Daniel Case 02:18, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I've never heard of that software, or maybe I've read once on newspaper but forgotten. I've seen you mentioning "Xunlei" in Daniel's talk page, so Tuotu got to be a downloading software right? Or BT? I'm not sure. I'm not using any Chinese software now. Perhaps you should consult someone from CHINA, as you said it is very popular in CHINA. --Edmund the King of the Woods! 01:56, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

[edit]

It is not a matter for other editors to widely research a topic on the Internet before an article is speedily deleted for non-notability. It is up to YOU to write a quality, well-referenced article that clearly explains why the subject IS notable. If you do not make the notability clear in the article, then it is most likely to be deleted. Please do not seek to shift your responsibility on to others. WWGB 12:01, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
