Vipera ammodytes

After having deleted a number of your recent (botched) edits to Vipera ammodytes, it seems you've succeeded in adding an image. However, I have to say that it's a pretty awful picture. It's off-center and badly composed. About the only good thing to say about it is that it's in focus. What's more, it looks like the poor snake's water needs to be cleaned -- hardly an example of good husbandry. Therefore, I'm in favor of removing this picture from the article. I'm sure you mean well, but I worked hard on this article and your picture isn't improving anything. --Jwinius 14:29, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Filip -- are you there? We need to talk. You can answer here just by editing this page and adding a "--~~~~" behind it to sign your name. I appreciate that you want to contribute to Vipera ammodytes and Coronella, but there are some problems. First, you need to edit those images: you need to zoom in more on the snakes so that they fill the picture. There are lots of other snake images around here that are good examples of this. Second, is that really a picture of Coronella austriaca? The head looks familiar, but the body color pattern is hardly typical. It looks more like (what used to be called) Elaphe quatorlineata to me (I'm not sure what it's current valid scientific classification is). It's commonly called the four-lined snake, which also occurs in Bosnia Herzegovina. --Jwinius 17:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Filip, I had to remove that last picture you added to Coronella austriaca as well. Once again, it looks like an example of Elaphe quatorlineata, possibly a juvenile. Coronella austriaca has a twin row of spots down its body that sometimes fuse form narrow bands, but not stripes as your specimen has. Also, this article is more in need of additional information than pictures. --Jwinius 21:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I've had a change of heart after finding a description that seems to fit your pictures. I've now added both to the Coronella austriaca article as part of the new Gallery section there.
