Translation request[edit]

Hello, I saw that you are a native speaker of Arabic, so I would like to ask you if you could take a look at 2003 invasion of Iraq and Iraq War. There is a featured article in Arabic which we would like to know how it could be used the English one which is of course dominated by people who have either been there as soldiers or have their knowledge from western media. Someone also asked if the section about "related propaganda and phrases" could be amplified with information about the Iraqi side. Maybe there are also people who took photos in Iraq at the Arabic version? Nameme 16:11, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:HudaGhalia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HudaGhalia.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hello[edit]

Thanks for contacting me. I do have a look on Palestinian related articles every now and then. Un fortunately, they are all biased and written from a single point of view denying any history of today's Palestinians to their homeland or any one who inhabited it before. See for example the Palestinian people article. I would love to contribute to your project, however given the number of editors who vandal anything related to Palestine on Wikipedia, something needs to be done about it. Else, Wikipedia is a misleading site about the history of Palestine and the Palestinians. Almaqdisi talk to me 04:26, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:EU Presidency Logo LU2005.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:EU Presidency Logo LU2005.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

For your note on the Atallah Hanna article. I would like to hear more about why you think "Archbishop" is not good to include in the title. I just followed Wiki guidelines on naming for religious figures. Tiamut 20:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey there. I see your point. But I took the idea for the naming of the article from this page [1]. I don't know if we should change it now considering that this is a standing guideline and Atallah Hanna already redirects to the page. Let me know what you think after reading this. Volunteering[edit]

Hello Fjmustak! Some WP ARAB members and I decided to start a page to request Arabic scripts for articles. You've been a great help in this field and we would be delighted if you volunteered. If you decide to, list your name at the "Volunteers" section of the page. Cheers!

Letter G[edit]

Thanks, can we add something about that letter gaf ( or گ) in the article Arabic alphabet, where it doesn't appear at all? Badagnani (talk) 07:43, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

I really think the Arabic alphabet article should include all the additional modified letters such as Ng (Arabic); right now they're not there. Badagnani (talk) 08:09, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Mahmoud Guinia[edit]

Thanks, would you check my change at Mahmoud Guinia? I added the 3-dots version of gaf in the first spelling, but it draws no Google hits, like the kaf version does. Is it okay the way I listed two spellings? Badagnani (talk) 07:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Wind instruments[edit]

Thanks for salamiya information. Now I need info on a type of mizmar/zamr from Sharqia called something like shalabiya. My guess is that it's some kind of folk name that is etymologically related to salamiya the way the ciaramella and ciaramedda are related in Southern Italy. Do you have any idea about this? And do you have a very good Arabic dictionary that gives etymologies? Because I'd very much like to know the etymologies of the words kawala and salamiya. Badagnani (talk) 08:00, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Kawala[edit]

Hi, can you check Kawala now? Isn't the spelling you gave me for the drink cola? Badagnani (talk) 17:14, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

OK, I removed it -- is it okay now? Badagnani (talk) 22:38, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

My humblest apologies[edit]

Sorry indeed. The page has been attacked and blanked in the past for no reason, and when I saw 'blanked' I overreacted. Apologies, and thanks for the Arabic edit. Regards Nishidani (talk) 10:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Favor for Ynhockey[edit]

Greetings Fjmustak! I was hoping you would be able write out in Arabic the text on page 16 (PDF page 45) of this document? It's for the article Beit Jala reprisal raid. --Al Ameer son (talk) 20:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Transportation law[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Transportation law requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – moonty (talk) (contribs) 09:34, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

December 2008[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to Ghetto (Akon song), please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Al-Quds logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Al-Quds logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Image copyright problem with File:AnNazlaLocation.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:AnNazlaLocation.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

License tagging for File:SheikRadwanLocation.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SheikRadwanLocation.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:07, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the plot[edit]

Thanks for the plot. The problem is that Gaza has seen substantial growth in the last 60 years. An Nazlah may have started life off just west of Jabalia (according to mapping used in the 40s) but the centre has migrated with expansion....same with Sheik Radwan, what was sand dunes with the area name of Radwan has expanded east and as the population increased the name associated with the area has moved with the population more eastwards...The texans seem to be using 1948 naming while ignoring today's date and the increase in populations that cause towns to migrate....Ashley kennedy3 (talk) 09:56, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Adminship[edit]

Thanks for the support brother! I won't let it get in the way of the WP Palestine work. We got much to do. I think will create a sample for the Gaza template, and see what everyone thinks. By the way, we all should start updating the populations of Palestinian localities in the West Bank with the 2007 PCBS statistics you provided. I'll start on the Hebron and Bethlehem govrnts. Re:WP Israel/WP Palestine Overlapping[edit]

Hi Fjmustak. Here's the discussion. No, we do not have a central repository of guidelines, if fact, I don't believe there are any real guidelines, but we agreed that Bethlehem, Gaza, Nablus, etc. = WP Palestine only, Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Haifa = WP Israel only, Acre, Ramla, Jerusalem, Hebron = Both projects. There are articles on Jaffa, History of Haifa, Isdud to add WP Palestine tags to replace the missing ones on Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdod. Similarly, Hamas under WP P and Kadima, Yisrael Beitenu under WP I. Articles on people should be discussed on a case by case basis. I for one, believe that if Yasser Arafat is tagged for WP Israel, then Ariel Sharon or Yitzhak Rabin should be tagged for WP Palestine, but I haven't discussed this yet. Maybe later... --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:45, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Jifna village council website[edit]

Marhaba Fjmustak! Since you know how to find all these municipal websites, I was hoping you could track down the village council webpage of Jifna. There is this one, but I don't think it's official. I found an official one a while back, here, but it's a dead link now. It gave me info on the mayor and municipal council, history of local government in the village, and info on the school there. The reason behind my request is that I want to nominate Jifna for Featured article status and all dead links must be replaced. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:56, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Fjmustak you are a life saver. The archives are exactly what I needed. Also, thanks for the clarification on the Jifna Hope Association. I'm going to use the Tabash Restaurant source as well, apparently there are two famous restaurants in the tiny village: Al-Burj and Tabash. --Al Ameer son (talk) 20:41, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
The JMCC source says the restaurant itself is the old city of Jifna. If it has closed because of the Intifada, please give a source because that seems to be important info. Other than that, I can't think of any other sources I would need for the article. On a separate note, could you please add the Arabic to al-Ramadien? Many thanks, you have been a great help brother. I will nominate Jifna by the end of the week. --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:52, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

svg editor[edit]

I use Inkscape, it is free and relatively easy to use. But I was just using it to modify current files, haven't done anything with adding things to the files like new boundaries. I will work on it, but work is picking up and got a trip to Egypt coming up as well, so don't know how much time I'll have. Nableezy (talk) 02:25, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Well done, impressive how fast you got that done. I just used your map in the current template, think you could ask for the new one to be deleted, this way we dont have to go through all the articles just to change the map. In fact I would have just uploaded these files as updates to the old ones, but that doesn't matter too much. The map works great, you can see it in an article mandate map and territories. Thank you very much for that, I probably would never have gotten around to it. Shukran jiddan, wa masalama Nableezy (talk) 01:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
You need to purge the cache, ctrl-shift-r should work with firefox, not sure what browser you are using. I see the new maps fine, so they are working, check this Nableezy (talk) 02:30, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:Location map Mandatory Palestine districts[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Location map Mandatory Palestine districts requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. Nableezy (talk) 02:32, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

actually, if you could just replace the entire content of the page with {{db-author}} that would be easier. Nableezy (talk) 02:45, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Ayyubid map[edit]

Marhaba Fjmustak! I took a quick look at the site you pointed out to at as-Salih Ismail and I have to say it was like a dream come true. We need to replace the map we have now at the Ayyubid dynasty article which doesn't include Palestine, Libya, or the Nubian coast with one similar to the map at that website. Do you know how we would be able to undertake this? --Al Ameer son (talk) 02:10, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much brother. I've been working on the Ayyubids lately and want to eventually get that article to GA status, although this one could be quite an adventure. It's great to work with you again. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:32, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Having the Crusader states might be important, but so is the remnant Zengid kingdom and the Abbasid Caliphate. If we're going to keep the kingdoms, we should make the Ayyubid state one color instead of Egypt being yellow and the rest of the empire orange. Also, is there a way we could tighten the black borders with the main shading to make sure everything is solid? Lastly, what are those two hot pink enclaves in the northern Syria-Jazira region? --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:04, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
We could do two things: First, we could just remove the Seljuks, Danishmends, and Byzantines. Second choice could be keeping all of those kingdoms, plus the Almohads and others you see fit and having them all under one color like gray for instance, while the entire Ayyubid Empire is another color, preferably something bright like red, orange, or yellow. Honestly, I prefer the second choice. Also, there's obviously no reason to keep the Fatimids and I don't think the Isma'ili areas should included either; rather we just merge them into the Ayyubid dynasty. Cities would definitely be a good idea. --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:10, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Fjmustak, you have my deepest apologies. I read your message a while back but I got caught up with some other things on Wikipedia and I really haven't been too active in the past weeks because of final exams. Anyway, the map looks good, but the the title "Ayyubids" in the legend needs to fitted within the box and the "Atabeg" needs to be renamed "Zengids". Also, I was thinking about creating a second map just depicting they Ayyubid empire and the dates of acquisitions, similar to the Ottoman map. I'll give you more details about the second map when I sort them out. Thanks so much for all your help brother. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 08:42, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Jifna FA nomination[edit]

Marhaba Fjmustak! I have finally nominated Jifna for Featured article. There have been some initial obstacles however. I was hoping that you could help out with one of the problems - dead links for Palestinian-run sites. The one in particular is the excerpt on Jifna, Bani Zeid, and other localities by the Palestinian Association for Cultural Exchange (PACE). Here is the original link (http://www.pace.ps/publications/site.html) Do you have access to an archive of that page-that's all that's needed. Salaamat akhi! --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:52, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Shukran! You're a life saver. WP Palestine has missed you greatly... hopefully you will return to full activeness soon ;) Oh and I've created some new articles recently that need Arabic scripts if you have time to add them. The articles are: Fahmi al-Husseini, As'ad Pasha al-Azm, Sulayman Pasha al-Azm, Dayfa Khatun, and Osama Hamdan. Salaamat. --Al Ameer son (talk) 05:52, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Nablus Logo.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Nablus Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

WP Palestine Updates[edit]

Unfortunately, Jifna was not promoted mostly due to unreliable sourcing, which I think is bogus (apparently the article needs more book sources). I guess FA reviews have gotten much stricter these days. Oh well I will try again some other time. Also, I have nominated Izzat Darwaza for Good article status and I haven't forgot about the Ayyubids. I got side-tracked, but will work on them as soon as I get some more work done on various Palestine-related articles. Sorry about not working on Al Fateh; don't know the subject too well, however, you bring up some good points and hopefully I will work on the article a bit at a time. I hope you're doing well and look forward to see your edits in the near future ;) Ma'asallama akhi. --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem. And you can count on translation requests on a weekly basis. I will always keep n touch. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 07:35, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Arabic script reqests[edit]

I will update weekly:

New list:

By the way, I added your map to the Ayyubid dynasty article and have made a couple of maps myself. I'm planning on nominating the article for GA status very soon, after I add some extra info. And, Izzat Darwaza is now a Good article. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. Yes that makes sense... I was wondering why the "Ayyubids" title was slightly out of the legend box. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:55, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

New list:

And I listed the Ayyubid dynasty for Good article nominations. --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:10, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much for that and for adding the Arabic scripts so quickly! Also, Diaa abdelmoneim, Nableezy, and I have planned to collaborate to get Gamal Abdel Nasser to Good, and hopefully Featured status (we're supposed to start work next Monday). I know that you're busy, but whenever you have the time it would be great if you could participate in this project as well. Salaamat brother. --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for your recognition and the project award akhi. Actually, I didn't even know who al-Hout was until seeing the breaking news at Ma'an and the subsequent obituary. After doing some recent reading up on him, I realize he was one of the most important figures in PLO history. It's been a sad week for the PLO with his death and that of Samir Ghawshah... Anyway, I also want to thank you for providing all of those Arabic scripts; I was going to ask you for them, but was delighted to see that it wasn't necessary. Salam brother, --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:58, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for following up on that Fjmustak. The name is so not Arabic I don't how we missed it all nthis time but its good we caught it now. Tiamuttalk 10:19, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Another made up village?[edit]

Greetings Fjmustak! I've been through the PCBS listings and I haven't been able to find this village: al-Mazra'a al-Qibliya. It was added sometime ago to the Ramallah and al-Bireh template, but now I'm starting to think it should be removed. --Al Ameer son (talk) 17:10, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

God bless, akhi. --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:28, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Ramadan mubarak Fjmustak. I wondered if you might be able to help with a request for translation I just got. Here's the message and the text is linked. Its short and sweet. Hi! I see, you're a Palestine, I love them. So you speak Arabic. I would like to request something from you. I'm a Hungarian wiki editor, my name is Norbert. It's a little bit out of wikipedia, it's a translation request. Soem years ago I wrote a (really) short story of a lonely man, who symbolizes the Saami nation, but actually, all the minority nations. We started to translate it into several languages. I love the arabioc, but we don't have this translation yet. Could you make me that. You could see the English or other versions here, and you can put the arabic version also here. Thank you! hu:User:Eino81 —Preceding undated comment added 11:36, 23 August 2009 (UTC). Tiamuttalk 11:44, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Its beautiful. Thanks Fjmustak. He/she will be really happy with that. You're a star. Tiamuttalk 21:46, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll see what I can find on the neighborhood of Al-Manshiyya in Jaffa. (About the disambig, I'm glad you liked it. We need so many of those, given that so many names in Arabic are used for multiple places.) If I do find enough to start an article, I'll let you know. We can start a sub-page in your or my user spage and move on from there. Tiamuttalk 22:02, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Already started to put together some sources at User:Tiamut/Zeita. Tiamuttalk 22:19, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Nice, it's going on my watchlist. Tiamuttalk 23:01, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Araby[edit]

For a new article on Rashid al-Haj Ibrahim. I just realized there's a lot of Palestinian Istiqlalists that need articles, namely Mu'in al-Madi, Akram Zu'aytir, Subhi al-Khadra, and a few others. --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:57, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Sheikh Bureik[edit]

I don't know him, but I will try to see if someone I do does and if we can track him down. If its his own original research and unpublished, we won't be able to use it, but perhaps he can tell us what source material he used. Tiamuttalk 21:36, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Good news. Inquiries have paid off. (Six degrees of separation turned out to be only two.) I will get back to you when I have copies of the books and/or access to the references he used. Should be soon. Sorry it took so long. Real life is in full swing these days. Tiamuttalk 17:31, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Have not forgotten. I'm just working crazy hours these days and don't have time to meet the man, but I will hopefully get a chance to in the next couple of months. Good thing you're not in a rush. :) Take care my friend. Tiamuttalk 09:14, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

request[edit]

Marhaba Fjmustak, I have request for you that may be a bit difficult, and if you dont have the time dont worry about it. I am looking for the Arabic of a particular hadith from Bukhari (it is the writing at the top of the main gate to al-Azhar mosque, the topic of an article I am working on). The hadith is Volume 3, Book 46, Number 706, the English can be seen here. The image of the door, if that helps, is here. And if at all possible if you could also make out the Arabic in the panels above the arches of the doors between the images of palm trees and the center circle. Shukran, nableezy - 01:16, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I have been searching as well and found the hadith here and also thought that it did not match. Thanks for the help and I will keep looking as well. Salam, nableezy - 04:52, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
I cant read it nor can I find any source that says what it is except for the source that references that hadith and that seems wrong. Im still looking so if you can make it out it would be greatly appreciated, but if you cant and I cant it would not be a huge deal if the article did not include that. Thanks tho, nableezy - 20:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

This should be easier, could you make sure my Arabic is right for this: al-Qusur al-Zahira, 'the Brilliant Palaces'. I have القصور الزهيرة. That look right? nableezy - 16:42, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, nableezy - 22:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Shukran for the welcome back and sorry for leaving without really saying anything. I still wouldn't say full-force yet. Whenever I have the time to edit, I will try hard to edit. Anyhow, inshallah we'll work together as soon as possible. Cheers y'akhi! --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:04, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

correct meaning of arabic name?[edit]

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Anthony_Appleyard#Quneitra_edit

Is AA's OR correct? A quick consultation with Hans Wehr suggests, in addition to "bridge", a possible alternative meaning "possess tremendous riches". Plus his vowel pattern doesn't quite fit either. Thanks for your help. --NSH001 (talk) 23:55, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the comprehensive reply on Anthony's page - I was puzzled by the apparent absence of the final -i- vowel. Wehr does not mention قُنَيْطِرَة under the second heading, which confirms your reading. --NSH001 (talk) 11:34, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello Fjmustak! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2,275 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

source of a famous quotation[edit]

Hi, at Talk:Killings_and_massacres_during_the_1948_Palestine_War#Azzam Pasha and Momentous Massacres there is a discussion of a famous "quotation" popular in polemic works on the Arab-Israeli dispute. I now have a copy of the probable original source, an Egyptian newspaper of 1947. Can you help with translation? If you send me email, I will send you a scan of the relevant pages. Thanks. Azhar again[edit]

Marhaba Fjmustak. A little while ago you sent me a link to a book that contained the Arabic for the Bab al-Muzayinin (here). The author lists some impressive qualifications so even if this were self-published I think it would be fine for a source, but do you have any idea of there is a publisher and a publication date? Ive looked through the pdf and I cannot find either. Thanks, nableezy - 22:17, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Also, I made a rough pass at translating it here. Any thoughts on how bad my try was? nableezy - 22:35, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Beth Yaakov Synagogue Geneva.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Beth Yaakov Synagogue Geneva.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:45, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

The importance of previewing changes[edit]

Regarding this change, I realize that things like navboxes and templates can get a little tricky with all the embedded formatting within formatting and mistakes are easy to make. However the consequences can be great - in this case the navbox was essentially ruined for dozens of pages. Whenever working with templates that are used in many articles, it's always a good idea to preview your changes first. --Bachrach44 (talk) 17:29, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Android version history[edit]

Hi Fjmustak, just wondering how you split the versions in the table you made. By API level or something else? The reason i ask is someone split 4.1 and 4.2 in the table with 4.2 in light blue...i reverted this as your table doesn't support it...but i do need to know how you split the versions to know for sure. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 09:20, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

You could use different shade to group versions i suppose...like light blue for 4.1 and dark blue for 4.2, different greens for gingerbread, different reds for ICS etc. Are you using random colours atm? Thanks Jenova20 (email) 11:11, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

User:John Cummings maybe I was to quick to add UNESCO to the whitelist?

Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:49, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

Oh! Thanks for the note User:Doc James. User:John Cummings, do the Biosphere Reserves have a special license separate from the rest of the UNESCO website, per [2]? Can you provide the link for the licenses? I'll start redlinking non-existent reserves while this is figured out. --Fjmustak (talk) 17:57, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Attribution is also needed Yayu_Biosphere_Reservation here Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:11, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
@Doc James: and @Fjmustak: Yes they do have a special license (hopefully it will apply to more text soon). The license link is part of the open liense text attribution template I ask people to use in Step 3 to keep track of everything on this page John Cummings (talk) 18:16, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
So we should delete these than User:John Cummings? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:27, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
@Doc James: no, they just need the license template added, I've done it. @Fjmustak: pretty please use the license template :) --John Cummings (talk) 18:31, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
 Done--Fjmustak (talk) 18:34, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

Minimum inhibitory concentration[edit]

Hello, Fjmustak. The students' work in this article has been reverted. A lot of it appears to be chunks copied verbatim or closely paraphrased from various copyright sources, e.g. [3], [4]. There is also some direct copying/very close paraphrasing from this book. None of the students' additions were referenced to their source, which constitutes plagiarism as well as a copyright violation. Please ensure that the students fully understand our copyright policies. Wikipedia:Copyright violations and Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing are basic guides. Wikipedia:Plagiarism covers the problem of failing to credit sources. But note, that even if the source is credited, it cannot be copied verbatim if it is copyrighted, as were all the examples I've pointed out above.

There are other problems as well, such as unencylopedic use of the second person, e.g. "The following paragraph informs you the procedure for broth dilution: You will need an Antibiotic Stock solution..." Encyclopedia articles are not meant to be instruction manuals. The students also need to take care that when expanding an existing article, they do not simply do a blanket overwrite. They need to integrate their work carefully and preferably gradually. The over-writing in this article resulted in the loss of valuable references and formatting.

Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 10:35, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Voceditenore Thank you! I noticed that their work was reverted and have told them to make sure they don't do that. I appreciate your comments. Cheers. --Fjmustak (talk) 12:40, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for quality articles such as Patient's Friends Society-Jerusalem, Lake Tana Biosphere Reserve and Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean, for your work with students as coordinator for the Wikipedia Education Program in Palestine, currently in microbiology, for welcoming new users, redirects and other project work, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Birzeit University[edit]

Consider this as my own fault. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding because the article written on it said that it was established since 1924 while, on the logo, the arabic numeral said that it was established on 1934 or ١٩٣٤ Muhammad Azmi 00:42, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bourguiba mausoleum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Monastir. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:03, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Fjmustak. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
