Information icon Hello, I'm GoldMiner24. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Luso-Africans, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. GoldMiner24 Talk 03:56, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

okay i will put a source Freshairbreath (talk) 12:59, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I put a source, so is it ok now? Should I add more sources? Freshairbreath (talk) 13:03, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
I took it down because I didn't want to change the whole paragraph and basically.. this is someone's identity I'm messing with.
Is that a normal reason?
If they want to add it, I suppose they can. Freshairbreath (talk) 03:09, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Jewish views on slavery, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Andre🚐 03:55, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to. Don't worry, I'm doing it ! Freshairbreath (talk) 04:08, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
wait... where did the whole paragraph go?
Look up Lançados.. I am just adding all of that.
That whole aspect is missing.
The Jews/New Christians that settled in Africa and sold the slaves.
Very important. I am adding all the sources. Freshairbreath (talk) 04:11, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You need to be more careful that you cite the specific claims you are making to reliable sources that say those specific claims Andre🚐 04:35, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But everything I wrote over the whole day was deleted Freshairbreath (talk) 04:39, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Who deleted everything I wrote yesterday and today.
I am adding the information from the portugues pages.
I need helo though, because where is everything I wrote.
Why would someone delete it? Freshairbreath (talk) 04:40, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The material you're adding seems to fail verification and isn't supported by the material you're posting. Please review our guidelines on citing sources. For example the source above states Portuguese conversos [coerced Jewish converts to Catholicism] had been slave trading since the sixteenth century between Lisbon, Sevilla, the Atlantic islands, and West Africa. Conversos are not Jews. They are Christian forced converts. Andre🚐 04:41, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
that was a mistake, that should even be there Freshairbreath (talk) 04:45, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I accidentally cut and pasted that from a reliable source
https://www.asser.nl/global-city/news-and-events/african-blacks-and-mulattos-in-the-17th-century-amsterdam-portuguese-jewish-community/
Is this ok, or not? Freshairbreath (talk) 04:46, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You seem focussed on adding text saying Jews were involved in the slave trade. Doug Weller talk 11:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes because that information is missing. Freshairbreath (talk) 12:15, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
i am going to add all the information about the exiled Jews moving to Africa, starting settlements, marrying the African women and then started selling the slaves to Euros.
This is how the slave trade started (all sources agree in all countries and languages)
Why haven't anyone been adding that? Did they no know?
Seem very suspicious, there is an encyclopedia... that does not say that. Very strange. Freshairbreath (talk) 12:17, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like someone has been purposely withholding that information from the encyclopedia. Freshairbreath (talk) 12:18, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How can there be a huge page on jews and slavery? That somehow misses the most important part! The role Jews living in Africa played in selling the Africna slaves to Euros.
How can someone trust an encyclopedia that is so political and deceptive?
I have come to fix this problem. Freshairbreath (talk) 12:25, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:AGF WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. So long as your material is properly sourced and cited and WP:NPOV it may be added. You shouldn't show up and allege something suspicious is going on or there is intentional withholding of information. That is not the case. We need material that is verifiable and reliable. Andre🚐 15:03, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, considering I added 6 sources, is that ok?
I don't see how omitting this information, could have possibly been an oversight.
Please let me know, how I can improve.
I have A LOT more sources to add :) Freshairbreath (talk) 15:13, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I once again removed In 1700's Dutch Jews traded for African slaves with Sephardic Jewish communities in West Africa [1] . [2] The source does NOT say that so please stop adding it. Andre🚐 15:21, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
so what does this mean:
José Da Silva Horta and Peter Mark (2011) found records of Sephardic communities along the West coast of Africa. The archival records reveal the reality of slave trade.
Yes, it does.
It is saying Jews that settled in west africa sold the slaves to dutch jews, may I please add that? Freshairbreath (talk) 15:24, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's WP:OR WP:SYNTH. You're reading implications and statements that aren't supported by the source. I don't doubt that there were Sephardic slave traders but you need to paraphrase closer to what the source actually says. Andre🚐 15:25, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They lived there for hundreds of years... they were the ones that MOVED there, married the Africans and sold the slaves to the Euros
Who else did that?????? Freshairbreath (talk) 15:26, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
can i cut and paste from the source... with no implications... is that ok? Freshairbreath (talk) 15:27, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will quote it, if that is OK with you overlord. Freshairbreath (talk) 15:27, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
STOP DELETING IT Freshairbreath (talk) 15:27, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What implication:
José Da Silva Horta and Peter Mark (2011) found records of Sephardic communities along the West coast of Africa. The archival records reveal the reality of slave trade.
The most prominent slave traders were from the families: Rodrigues, Jiménez, Noronha, Mendes, Pallos Dias, Caballero, Jorge, Fernandes Elvas, and Caldeira. The members of these families established an international network based on national-religious ties and kinship.
WHAT IMPLICATION ?! Freshairbreath (talk) 15:29, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you understand that source SAYS THIS:
José Da Silva Horta and Peter Mark (2011) found records of Sephardic communities along the West coast of Africa. The archival records reveal the reality of slave trade
I'm about to add this too from the same source:
The most prominent slave traders were from the families: Rodrigues, Jiménez, Noronha, Mendes, Pallos Dias, Caballero, Jorge, Fernandes Elvas, and Caldeira. The members of these families established an international network based on national-religious ties and kinship.
STOP CENSORING ME
find a source that contradicts it.
I have10 sources that talk about this. READ THEM. Freshairbreath (talk) 15:26, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, first of all, calm down. I'm not censoring you. The source you're using may not be reliable and doesn't say what you claim it says. You seem fixated on the idea of tying Jews to the slave trade. I don't doubt that conversos of Sephardic descent were slave traders. Figure out a way to say that that is supported by reliable sources. Andre🚐 15:31, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
this is what it says:
José Da Silva Horta and Peter Mark (2011) found records of Sephardic communities along the West coast of Africa. The archival records reveal the reality of slave trade
Should I quote that book then? Please help, I am confused.
I am quoting a reliable source and you are saying...
I am implying something from an unreliable source?
Why is that book not reliable?
The person who wrote the website is A Dutch Jewish Scholar. Freshairbreath (talk) 15:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just tell me how I can cite this book, and stop deleting it. Help me please understadn why i can't QUOTE this book by historians. Freshairbreath (talk) 15:35, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WHY? Freshairbreath (talk) 15:35, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"Found records" that "reveal the reality of the slave trade" is a very different statement from "Sephardic Jews were slave traders." That is not clear from the material. Andre🚐 15:51, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You say "this is how the slave trade started"

[edit]

Specifically, "i am going to add all the information about the exiled Jews moving to Africa, starting settlements, marrying the African women and then started selling the slaves to Euros. This is how the slave trade started (all sources agree in all countries and languages)" Seriously? Doug Weller talk 16:20, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Find me a source that says anything different. Freshairbreath (talk) 17:19, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
