A video showing the basics of verifiability and neutral point of view policies.

Welcome!

Hello, Galloway Photography, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like Wikipedia and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!  - Ahunt (talk) 01:32, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page[edit]

You are not permitted to use Wikipedia user pages for the flagrant promotion of your business, please see WP:UP#PROMO. I have removed your advertising material there and blanked the page. - Ahunt (talk) 12:24, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop trying to insert your heavily watermarked photo in this article. Wikipedia is not the place to promote your business in this way. Due to your huge company logo all over the photo this image is not suitable for Wikipedia. If you keep trying to use Wikipedia to promote your business you will be blocked from editing. - Ahunt (talk) 12:30, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

My sincere apologies for posting a photo that is not in line with your policies, and my user page should be limited to a very brief statement of my personal experience. My excitement at showing the world a great photo of the only airworthy 1925 Waco 9 has crashed to earth like all of the other 270 airplanes ever built. I will never do that again, although that is idle talk from someone who has been banned. Mea Culpa.. But I would like to know how/if I can rectify the chasm between protecting (small watermark) on my intellectual property and your need for free material. The bi-plane enthusiasts need to see this amazing photo. Galloway Photography (talk) 18:50, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You can't simultaneously put a photo on Wikipedia and claim ownership of it; we're real particular about the nature of intellectual property on Wikipedia, and you can't half-free it. --jpgordon::==( o ) 21:33, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Looks to me more like you're blocked for advertising - and I would add that your user name is also against our policies as it represents a business or organisation. Your user page was an advert. Another editor blanked it, but I've deleted it as that's what we usually do. I would advise thinking up another user name and posting it here as a suggestion so that if you get unblocked you'll be able to go to WP:CHU and get changed to it. As to the picture, I'll leave it to someone more used to images than I am. Peridon (talk) 19:46, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that you can't watermark or add logos to images. If you want to protect your intellectual property then don't upload them to Wikipedia or Commons as they will be edited or just deleted, as the required free licence allows. You lose all control over photos uploaded under these licences. The logos are advertising and we don't allow that here. If you want to be able to get free advertising then you need to start a blog or something. Wikipedia is the wrong venue. We are here to build a free encyclopedia, not to advertise. - Ahunt (talk) 19:50, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
